meah.. let me guess $1000+? the inner lid is steel? i dont see much of a weight loss that way so it would be hard to justify a high price.... i personaly dont care for carbon fiber on the exterior of a car...looks gaudy... but to each their own..

I'm guessing you didn't look at the link in the first post, eh?
Don't know if the inner lining is steel or not, however the trunk lid itself being in CF should be a vast improvement over the stocker...

Yup!
BTW, the kit in the picture is my old one. The new kit made for our cars should be installed early this week.

bout time something like that hit the GA market. As for being the inner part steel,it can be fiberglass.I know most CF hoods that I've seen the under part is fiberglass, using steel would defeat the whole purpose in making something of CF.True CF products are entirely carbon fiber, thats why they are so expensive. All the hoods for these imports and even some domestics, are partial CF and the rest is fiberglass. For instance,VeilSide, everything they sell, body kits, accent pieces,hoods,etc..They are made of CF but are primered because it would be stupid to have a black body kit on a other colored car,its all for weight loss of the car.VeilSide is one of the most expensive kit manufactures out there.AED,for their price, their kit should be carbonfiber, all VeilSide products are close to in price, why pay same price when one is fiberglass and the other is carbon fiber? CarbonFiber is lighter and more durable because of all the weaves. But anyways, yes can't wait to see the kit!:D

Mmhmm...someone's been doing their research! ;) On a side note, the company that's doing this stuff for us also specializes in carbon kevlar parts. Yes, you heard that right - kevlar! It's a tad bit heavier than carbon fiber, however the weave is different and it's a little bit sturdier. Looks ill if you ask me...they have a complete JDM Supra in kevlar sitting next to my car.

Looks pretty sweet. But why not have it laid or molded (or however the hell you do carbon fiber) without the trunk lock? At any rate; it looks sweet, and I'm excited to see your car coming out anew.

Don't know...executive decision I guess. Like the omission of the third brake light. Although, not having a trunk lock would be a pain in the ass to lift considering that to have this trunk work you have to disable the trunk springs so it doesn't go flying in the air when you open it.

So I've been looking through the other products they offer at GTP. Found some specs of other carbon fiber trunks. We're looking at around 10-20 lbs. for the trunk with an average weight of 12-15 lbs.

you would look like you have a salvaged title and made your car out of 2 wrecked cars or you could put some reflective vinyl on the side and you would look like a old cop cruser....
