I washed and waxed on Tuesday. Found huge smear of bird diarhea on the roof today at work, so I went out with a water bottle, ran the water over it and cleaned/dried with a towel.

Everyone thinks I am absolutely crazy and I know the only ones that will understand are my fellow GAOC members ;) ........

Yeah, what's the big deal? I think it's your co-workers that are crazy for thinking you're crazy. :D

I'd be doing the same thing if it was my car.

Yeah, I think that would be the common sense thing to do, but some people at my job think I am obsessive.

They obviously do not know what bird dooo dooo does to paint if you let it bake in the sun

I don't see the problem with that:)

I see no problem w/ your actions. My last car had a big circle of funky paint on the top because bird poo was left on it too long. Totally understandable. I must say I'm a little upset because my office just moved to a new building w/ a dirt lot next to it, I can see the dust blowing thru the parking lot....towards my pretty black GA dust magnet....oh well.... :)

I agree with BleakGT...it can mess up your clear coat if left on too long. I keep a bottle of the Meguires Quick Detailing and some small towels in a ziplock bag in my trunk at all times!

Obsessive some people may say...I call it protecting my investment.

The funny thing is, the people that think I am obsessive drive the following:

A 2003 Tibby GT - Beautiful Car, but don't think it has been waxed in the entire year he has had it

A 2004 Grand Cherokee - 32,000 vehicle, brand new, hasn't washed since he got it 2 months ago

A 2003 Explorer - again, a beautiful vehicle - but she doesn't care about it

Oh well, some people just spend a ton of money on their vehicle and do not care about their investment, even though a car is typicially your second largest investment you will make in your lifetime!

People think im nuts to. I park my car in the same spot at work so that i can see my car in our monitor (outside camera). I walk by the monitor every half hour just to see if the car is alright. Im obsessive.

I guess some peoples passions lay elsewhere. Weirdos.

Yeah, I obsessively dust my car at work, and wash the car a couple times a week if necessary, car cover, the whole works. All it means is that you care for your car.

My stepmom said sarcastically to me as she handed me large food to take home from a birthday party "you can put it in the trunk cause I don't want you to mess up your gold haven" or something like that. I halfed smiled at her. I take care of my ride unlike her. To her, it's just something to transport you from point A to point B. Not to me. It's more than that.

She drives a '03 Navigator and does not take care of it at all. It's a shame the way she and her son treat that vehicle. They just don't care at all. Damn idiots.

i know some people WAYYY worse than you. Were talking, one guy after he drives like half a mile its OMG my car is dirty so he parks and gets out and Zaino Z5's his car right there, doesnt matter where its at....

Then theres another guy that I know thats even worse than that. You know the rear strut bar towers in the trunk? Well he takes Q-tips and cleans those all the time because suppossedly they were dirty?! The rest of his car is spotless, always spottless, i think it would be safe to say you can eat on the undercarriage of that car. Infact the undercarriage is probably cleaner than most restaurants. lol

We all have our "geeky/nerdy/obsessive" things...

Some people collect wierd things... some people are computer geeks... some people are trekies... etc

And then...

There are some people who have hearts and souls that seem to dance and sing with the gleem of a freshly washed and waxed fender.

The appearance of their own reflection or that of a beautiful blue sky with cotton puffs gliding across the surface of their very own pride and joy brings tears to the stoutest of lumberjacks.

There's nothing wrong with a little bit of passion. It gives us life, purpose, and empty wallets.

Just keep your passions legal, and on occasion, remember that there is MUCH in life to be passionate about...

Love and nurture your Grand Am. But don't spend so much time admiring the reflection on your car of the world around you that you forget to turn around and actually admire the world around you.

I'd love to tell you more, but I'm going to go drive around for no reason what so ever now. There's a world out there to see, and my freshly washed, Zaino-ed, and armor-alled Grand Am is going to take me there!

it would be obsessive if you tracked down the bird, sprayed the top of the car and wiped the poo off with the bird.

That's just normal car care.
