It's all going to depend on your own taste. Some like myself like crome. others like gun metal. Some like them painted. Just go with what you like. There is a lot of pics on this forum for you to get a really good idea what you would like.
You can to to www.tirerack.com and choose what rims you like and choose the color of you car and it will show you what it would look like with those rims. Pics are kind of small but you can sort of get the idea.

how does the size work?
is it all about looks for which size you pick, or is there more to it?

size and rim size all depends on you. 17 or 18" is plenty for ga's. no need to sport anything much bigger.

16s would just not be fun, 17s are better than 16s, but not yet there and 18s are the best and look really good. When I got my 18s I was like omg, those are way too big and I was scared of them.. when they put them on my car, they looked sweet and lots of comments from the dealer..

Sometimes the choice of 17's or 18's comes down to how much you have to spend and what the roads that you drive on are like.
A set of rims and tires in the 17 inch size will cost around a grand.
17's give you an additional inch of cushion if potholes are encountered in your area.
18's will be more, I don't know how much more but I know they were out of my price range when I was shopping.
Take your time and you can discover some deals on used wheels and tires. There are several sets for sale on this board by people who are buying new or need the cash for some reason. I got mine from a dealer that was on eBay. It was not a pleasent experience. Many delays and outrite lies. The lugs they sent stripped the threads and they only sent 19. Plan on another $40 for a lug and locking lug set.

I had to go with 17's for the very reasion tenspeed said. Tulsa is pot hole city. I needed all the rubber on the road I could get. This is another reasion I am debating the 1.5 inch lowering.

so the bumpier the roads, the smaller the rims...makes sense.
what about lowering, what good does that do, other than the looks?

My 97 was 14" The springs for the 97. The only ones I found are 1.5 and 1.3 drop. 289 for springs. 200 if you have them installed.
I am new to alot of this my self and I do not no everything. Most info I get is from all these guys on the forums. If you go through and read all the forums and old post you can usually find answers to what you are looking for.
This is one awsome forum. I am so glad for the people that have put in there time and money to set up this site.

if you got the hubcaps, its 15, i believe. and the rims and tires i got on my car where 1500. 17" TenzoR's with Nanking 215(tread width)/45(sidewall=45% the width of tread)r17 (i believe i explaned that right, help me out guys if it wrong). those tires come out to about $109 each. nice tires for the price.
and once ya get rims, get the alingment checked out. i got my 17's on an the insides on my fronts wore out really quick. and if ya get the drop springs, try to get match struts(RSMRacing.com sells some to match their springs) then check the alingment again.

My 17's were around $600 for the rims, $400 for the tires from eBay and $20 a wheel for mounting.
Your 18's were $900. How much for tires? I saw a big jump in tire prices when you go to 18's.

The piece in the picture looks like a dark plastic piece that extends beyond the hood. That would be a bug deflector.
The vinyl piece that slips over the leading edge of the hood is a hood protector.
