Does anybody know the colour code for the air intake, top pan, and turbo pipe for these motors? Everybody that looks at it tells me it's chevy orange... so I went today and bought it and it's not even close to the right colour. I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow and see if they would know the right colour

I don't know the code but Duplicolor makes an engine enamel called "Chrysler Indrustrial Red" that looks darn good and is pretty close.
Chevy orange is really orange...like an orange...hehe...not even close.

I really like that colour so I wanted to try to go as close as possible! I'm finally starting to put it all back together now!
Here is what it looked like last week after the engine bay was painted
My camera sucks for taking pics inside and doesn't even come close to doing it justice!

I just painted it last week, when I had the car painted I went with an Ultra White so the engine bay and the trunk was still that ugly cream colour.
I almost all the parts sandblasted and painted, even all the bolts and nuts have been detailed. Hoping to get the rest of the engine bay put back together tomorrow and then finish the motor this week. I ended up sending out my head to get it port and polished :)
Here is a couple of pics of the back of the car after painting

looking verry verry nice i wish i had the space to park mine and tear it down and repaint the body
I took my intake in when i was doing the head gasket and worked with the guy to make the closest colour as possible. So far is seems to be standing up to the heat, its not an engine enamel tho, but it fixed the rusty intake tube and worked on the thermostat housing and the oil line that goes to the cam carrier. I ran a new scheme, i painted all the original orange paint again, and painted all pipes with the orange, get rid of some black. It looks real sharp. Anyhoo, incase you want it. The paint is by plasti-kote kustom-kote.
Start with a red, and the tint guide is:
758S drier additive 18.4
717A red oxide 23.6
701A white 50.9
715A red (HS) 90.5
748A monastral violet 158.3
733A red orange 386.6
Mix size: Special (10.00 of gal)
They put a number on it 5027A
(And on the other sticker on the other can they put this)
Pint
758S - 4.8%
717A - 1.3%
701A - 7.1%
715A - 10.2%
748A - 17.5%
733A - 59%
So thats the paint I used on my motor. Id love to show you a picture but i dont have any and the car is off getting exhaust, 2 1/2 inch straight pipe. But anyhoo, thats that, i dunno what numbers they'd want, but i got 2 cans made and each has a sticker and thats whats on them. So there ya go, my custom mix orange turbo paint. Its so close you wont tell the difference. Good luck to you tho

Thank for the info Goon :) I finally got a code from the dealer after alot of phone calls, the colour I went with is a bit more red because I didn't want a major a colour contrast with the dress up kit of the rad hoses etc. The parts are getting painted tonite so I will know how they look by tomorrow!
