I am trying to replace my tranny mount. It has what appears to be a allen key in the centre of it holding the rubber mount on the bracket (brace that mounts to tranny ). Does anyone know how to separate the mount from the brace?

ps. the tranny is removed if it matters, I had problems and found a broken tooth in the bottom of the pan, took it apart and found the internal gear was cracked with a tooth missing and another 1/2 gone. in the process of re-building now.

thanks

do you have a 3300? i bought a new tranny mount, haven't bolted it in yet, but there is no allen key that i know of.

the mount bolts to the frame. there is a hole in the middle of the mount that the trans, slips into. it looks simple enough. yet, you may have to lower the suspension are to put it in.......

I have the 3300, one of my allen head socket bits fits right into the part that the tranny mounts in (the hole in centre of mount). The allen head does not move. And the tranny is removed from the car.

I figured it out. There is a grub screw in the middle of the mount. that is how the tranny stays on the mount. the grub screw spreads out the sides to pinch the mount against the tranny bracket. The head however was seized inside and I burnt it out with the torch. no big deal though, I just need a new screw and it is as good as new (size 5/8" #18) incase anyone has the same problem as me.

i noticed the allen head screw you guys are talkinmg about. do you really have to remove that screw to swap trans mounts? i've replaaced all the mounts on the car but that one. i have it, but i haven't hade the time.....
