Looks like Colorado's limit is 27 all around while other states let you tint the rear windows as much as you want. If I ever get picked on for my tint I'm moving to NM where 20% all around is legal (which is what I have). I think those are the most leneant second to Colorado except for TX, OK, AR which are 25% (still not much of a difference from 27.
Also, this explains why I haven't been bothered for my windows since even the difference between 27 and 20 is hard to see with untrained eyes. Some of those states have rates up in the 30's or 70's for the front windows which I think itself should be illegal because the sunlight can cause more damage to your driving than not being able to see.
I'll tell you what, when I drive my Talon with no window tint I find myself glaring when the sun is to my sides which can't be good for driving. At night I don't have trouble with the 20% at all (once I got used to it). If it's really dark I can always roll down my windows to see better if I have to, so I don't understand why some states have such strict laws about the front windows.

My friend and I had ours next to each other trying to see the differance between 15% and 20% There wasnt a whole lot of differance. It was a bright sunny day. You could see through his just a little more. Not really enough to notice.
Keeping my fingers crossed ( No tickets please ).

Be careful when you interpret the numbers. When they mention "NET" in the type column that means the global transparency has to meet the number, that means the transparency of the tint film AND the transparency of the windows itself (which is 70% on a stock GA).
That means if you add a 20% tint on a stock window you end up with approx. 14% total transparancy which would be illegal if the NET limit is 20% transparency.

so you think that where it says 4" for front side windows in michigan, that's a typo? cuz it'll look pretty dorky with 4" of tint on the top of the windows! figures that out of 50 states, the one i live in has a typo.
anyone know the real law in mich? i couldn't find it searching on the state's website.

That's the law, you can only have a 4" strip on your front windows.

and we're the only state with that faggy rule? i've never actually seen a car with only a 4" strip on their windows.
i'd rather pay the ticket than ride around looking like that.
