Hello All - this is my first post. I generally hang out at the OQCGP Grand Prix website, but I'm looking at buying a Grand Am for my daughter.
It's a '95, 3.0 engine with 277,000 km, clean, no rust and runs good.
How long do these engines last? I'm not familiar with them. Anybody out there have higher miles with reasonable success?

That should be the 3100 if it is a V6, and I would say go for it. I've got 228k on mine with no significant problems.

Right you are! It is a 3100 V6 - I just got back from looking at it again + test drive. It has some issues - but I think I will be buying it tomorrow. The issues are wet floor on the drivers side and 3 of the 4 power windows don't work. I know how to fix these things if it was a grand prix, so I'm going to have to browse and search thru this board to see how you grand-am folks fix 'em.
If anybody has a link to fixing these things, I would appreciate it.

They always say you get what you pay for, but as long as you know you can fix it then its a good deal.

Hey Katie, I just checked out your ride pics - very nice MINT condition and I love your rims. I notice you have an open cone set-up in the engine compartment. In my grand prix GTP world this is a definate no-no. It pulls in hot air from the engine heat which robs engine performance and can contribute to KR. I notice some members here, have cold air fender-well intakes. This would be better if you get the ambition to do it.
Whoops - I'm not suppose to get technical in the general section. I'm going to shut-up now.

her filter set up is still far better then stock. and far cheaper then a CAI. i know. i run a WAI. never had the cash for a CAI and couldnt really find one when i got the WAI (plus i didnt know the diff between a CAI & WAI then).
