... to my knowledge, it is not a process that you can do yourself ... a local 'chrome' facility MAY be able to help you though as the process is quite indepth!

no, its not something you can do yourself, its a long drawn-out process, that requires large equipment, I'll see if I can find something that explains it

It is not easy but it can be done. A chrome shop wanted to charge me $300.00 just for the Valve Covers on my 77' Trans AM. That was way to much in my opinion. They own the market because so few people can do it so they can charge you whatever they want. First off you should sand the piece lightly with like 1000 grit sand paper. 2nd buy a bumper paint or flexible paint. They make it in a primer form. Then put on 1 coat. Sand it lightly with 1400 sand paper. Buy chrome paint. not the $1.99 bottles. If you want it to stay buy something good. I think Plastikoat (spelling???) makes a chrome paint. Spray it in light layers. You don't want it ro run because you have to start all over again. Take your time and it will turn out with a nice shine. If all else fails then find that chrome dip shop and they can give you quotes.

Ya its not chrome it looks like polished aluminum and the shine rubs off after a short time leaving grey paint. :)
The only way the paint works and stays is:
Spray a light coat wait 15 do it again then spray a gloss clear coat wait 15 do another clear. Even after doing this it still does not always dry right or lays even. Its a very glossy polished aluminum.

The reason I want to do this is cause on the 93 the gril has a bump (About twice a pencil thickness) all the way around the two grill pieces. I want to make it a chrome edge like on some BMW. I have already gotten a chrome Pontiac arrow head for the hood. And am look at taking the red out of the tail lights. Next up is to change the bumper reflectors from orange and red to the white reflectors.
