I haven't been to one ofthese events in a long time, and today I made it to one....damn looks like a load of fun. Just curious if anyone here has ever entered one of these events and wondering of some times you may have run.

I'm not sure how long the track was but the vehicles ranged from go karts, to Corvettes, to a Kia Rio (maybe not much different than a go kart, but anyway...) modified and factory stock.I noticed that a good majority of the cars were running the track in 27- 35 seconds. Maybe suprising, but most of the Vettes were lucky to have anything quicker then 32 seconds. The vettes especially, seemed too have too much speed to get away with really quick times. It seemd that the less powerful the vehicle, the quicker time it had. A real wild 240sx had a hard time to even stay on course when he got into it. I guess thats how you can tell a straight line car from a road race car.

I ran into one of my freinds who has an older Nissan SE R that was pretty much stock aside from strut bars, intake and exhaust and he ran 32-31's, which seemed to be decent times compared to others.

I don't know....it seemed like a petty fun time, I'd like to give it a go, but I'd hate to embarass my self or hit a cone and scuff my paint. lol I mean I do have Eibach springs, Mantapart upper strut bar, and lower strut brace. The only other "bolt on" suspension component I can think of would be to add a set of Addco anti-swaybars (front and rear). Since I know my little 2.5 would in no way break the tires loose from too much HP, I think I'd be safe from that aspect.

any opinions, comments, or suggestions?

I was thinking about getting into it as well. I already read up on the rules... there's alot involved in figuring out which class your car is in. Street prep (modified) would prolly be best bet for my 95. Rules allow everything I have and some. But... I was honestly thinking of autoX'ing my 94 sedan first. It is completely stock and I could be in a more laid-back beginner stock class. Sure it has mad body roll, but the handling is actually decent if you put some faith in it. I'd like to try it once or twice with the stock 94 before the modded 95. (95 would be harder - higher speeds, have to keep the rear end planted, stiffer competition)

Since you mentioned the Corvette... I've heard the same. Sure, they can get real low lap times, but there's a tendancy to over-muscle it. For some reason the only cars I see losing it or wrecking at an autoX event are Vettes. The real trick is taking the corners fast but smooth. Underpowered cars will help regulate your lead foot.
