I found when I bought my 99 GA that there were certain problems with that year. The rotors, the driver side window, the wheel bearings....Was wondering what common problems people have with 2001. ( 4cyl se )I would like to be able to really check my next vehicle over before buying. For example, I never checked to see if my fan worked on 1 and 2........and now I see that is a common problem. ( Still need to get that part, very frustrating to have to run the air on speed 3 ) Thanks!

I beleve all of the problems you list for your '99 are also common on the '01. Brake rotors, window clips and wheel bearings are problem areas on all '99+ Grand Ams. The fan resitor was redesigned at some point, but I can't remember what year they started including it from the factory.

IMO, unless you have something seriously wrong with your car (Besides what you mention here), or there is something about the '01 that your really want, there probably isn't much to gain in the trade except a slightly newer car.

Ya, those things that you mentioned are pretty common for all GA's.

Ya, no offense, but I have had my car for 2 years and I am sick of it already. If you want to get another car, might as well get something else. I love my Grand AM and I am keeping this until it dies while I could get a 2nd car, but Grand Am is outdated now and there are better cars out there right now.

I am not sick of my car. Its just that my financial situation may be different in a few years ( my job is being phased out possibly within 3 years ) and I thought I should move up while I can still swing it.

And nope, I wont get anything else. Has to be a GA!

well if dont think u can afford it in a while from now and you wanna do it for the sake of not having to worry about an older car then i guess it makes a little more sence

My 2000 had blower resistor problem every 17,000 miles. Now my 2003 has window regualtor problems I just replaced my passenger side and my car only has 10,000 miles on it. Basically went from a 2000 to a 2003 thinking I would runaway from problems but you still have problems I'm just happy I don't have to pay for my problems because I'm covered till April 30, 2006 on my factory warranty.:(

And for 03, they took out a lot of standard features like driver seat lumbar adjustment, globe box key, trunk net.

My 2003 must be special I still have my drivers lumbar support. My car was built in April of 2003. I don't have a glovebox lock I noticed and I don't have a cruise light. I use to have one on my 2000 which lit up. I know I got my use out of the little light. My 2003 has a trunk net because I bought one and my car has the silver colored gm twin post mirrors but I also had to buy those. My 2003 does have somethings my 2000 never had like XM Radio and I have a tape player which I never use. I also have the fake borla tip exhaust and the 30th anniversary decals and embroidered seats.:P

I got a loaner car from a dealer. It was a 03 GT and it didn't have lumper knob. I wish I had more fun with it though.
