really both are good but most stick to K&N anyways. I personally have had 2 and I love them both

Green's are known to rust. K&N's won't.

Honestly they are the same, only one uses red oil versus green oil. Beyond that, the true differences are in the manufacturing process.
K&N uses a high pressure injection when joining the filter itself to the base. This causes the 'rubber' to bleed into the filter material. Air can not flow through theses areas, thus you lose surface area of the filter. You may not think it is a lot, but when you have a large filter with a high pleat count, it can add up.
Note this picture. At the top of the filter you can clearly see the cap, then a short, but distinct area of 'bleed', and then the normal filter media. On cone/round style filters, you find it on both ends. On the flat panel style, you find it at the end of each pleat, and usually the very last pleat or two before the rubber perimeter is completely coated.

Green Filter uses a low pressure mold process that eliminates the 'bleed' as seen on K&N. The only other difference is the screen material of the Green Filter is less likely to crush like a K&N.
One more difference. Green is 10 times faster than K&N at bringing a new filter to production. Example: To this date, K&N has still not released a drop-in replacement for the 04 F150 5.4 truck, while Green had theirs finished before the truck even was on the street for public sale.
Depending on where you buy, costs can be quite competetive between the same application. However, you will not find Green Filter in your local Pep Boys, Auto Zone, etc. They are sold strictly through a W/D network to local auto shops.

Somewhat. Green tested some K&N filters against theirs and found some airflow differences as much as 25% on the same application. But, the K&N manufacturing process is not a mirror image with every filter like the Green. My K&N is very bad when you consider the amount of 'bleed'. But the filter that was made right after mine could have had less than half the amount.
When we first picked up the Green Filter line, their rep came in to introduce the line and point out their features to us. He used K&N's own filter demo machine to show us the flow differences between them. The filters he used were still in the plastic wrapper, fresh out of the box. If you have not seen one of these machines, it basically pulls air through a filter and blows it up a tube with a pingpong ball inside. The better the flow, the higher the ball goes. The rep turns on the machine, puts in a new OEM Fram, the ball doesn't raise. Takes out the Fram, puts in the K&N, the ball goes up 3/4 of the tube. Takes out the K&N, puts in the Green, the ball goes to the top. To demonstrate the K&N 'bleed' restriction, he puts a second K&N filter in, and the ball went higher than the first, but not to the top.
I asked one of my customers that builds and dynos engines to test it for me. Using a 14" standard round K&N they made a few pulls and recorded the numbers. They swapped the Green and made the same number of pulls. The results were not anything Earth shattering. If I recall, it was like 3HP on a race spec small block Chevy. Applying that to your car, your gains would be near nothing really.

Thanks for the opinions and thanks for the facts. yea i didnt plan on the intake making a huge perfomance increase but i would rather it had a better or newer filter if i ever drive it and again for a change in sound.

...bump(instead of making a new thread.) ;)
Since these things are ~4+ years old now...how does the Green Filter hold up after washes vs K&N?
