I've already read some threds on this subject but I still have a few questions.
About a year ago when I went to get my two 40 Series Flow Masters put on I asked the guy about doing a true dual exhaust and he said he could do it but it would cost more because he would have to make it all custom so I just went with the Flows and the Hi Flo Cat. So my ? is, would it be smog legal in California? I guess you would just put a cat on each pip. And what would be the + or the - of dual exhaust?

Your car really doesn't put off enough exhaust to do true dual. You'd be better off spending your money on one of the few headers that are available so your car can use the space it has more efficiently.
Right now your motor is trying to cram all the exhaust into two small spaces, then into a single pipe. It's not going to speed the exhaust flow if your motor is still trying to cram all the exhaust into two small spaces, only to go to two pipes.
Better to get a header where each cylinder will get it's own space to put its exhaust which will then flow into the one pipe in different spots. Unless you have forced induction, once you have a header you probably won't use all the space that a single 2.25" pipe can handle.

ya theres no point in true duals for 4 or 6 cylinder cars.....if u really want duals the jus get a dual outlet muffler or a y pipe

Y pipe is good...it's better than stock as it increases throttle response and adds a bit of power. Go with a 2.25" pipe, too.
True duals are impossible on a 4-cyl, just to let you know. The closest you can get is two pipes coming off one manifold/header, but that's pretty ghey considering the manifold/headers are still the same size.

Hey, I only said that because I have had people that actually were car savy argue that point because they considered those retarded manifolds "true" dual.
