I'm going to come off as a dumbass but when they say 8 speaker sound system in the gt's where are they all? two in the door and two in the back near the rear window. is there two in the truck and two in the dash?

Lol,... they're counting the tweeters too. 4 woofer & 4 tweeters =8.:) Just don't ever go looking for the factory "subwoofers" they claimed for a while. You won't find them since they are pure fiction.

Uh, ya. If you're referring to the window garnish behind the mirror mount as the sail panel. Sail panels are actually the panel(s) between the quarter panels & the roof panel.

(Sonictron) Lighten up. It's a window garnish. The a pillar is the post that is between the cowl & the roof panel. The tweeter isn't located on the a pillar trim. it's on the window garnish.

ok
all 99+ se(s) have 6speaker sound system
2x tweeter in the sail panel
2x door speakers 4x6
2x speaker in the back window 6x9

now the 99+ that any sound upgrade, this includes premium and monsoon. Has a 8 speaker system system
2x tweeter in the sail panel
2x door speakers 4x6
2x speaker in the back window 6x9, The back speakers are dual coil design. That where the missing two come in

I don't think any of them were ever dual voice coil. They are just 2 ohm, single coil.

so your 2000 does not have this

yes the premium and monsoon are dual coil
The amp in the premium system 99-00 on powers the back 6x9s (the bass) The head unit powers the highs and the others

the monsoon amp in the 2001+ powers all speakers, tweeters, 4x6, 6x9 lows and highs

The Monsoon 6x9 woofers are single coil, 2 ohm. Not dual coil. The rear tweets are 4 ohm, the front 4x6 woofers are single coil, 2 ohm & the front tweets are 6 ohm. Trust me, I've tested mine every which way but loose & it's tweaked about as far as it can be w/out replacing the stock Monsoon amp.

Mine has this... A 4 ohm RF tweeter. Pulls more power from the Monsoon amp since it's set for the stock tweet which was @ 6 ohm. Makes for louder & crisper highs.

I don't have a monsoon, but in my time here on gaoc and gagt they always said they were dual voice coils with two sets of wires running to them

& they've been wrong the whole time.:) Just because they are 2 ohm, people assume they are dual voice coil for some reason. Coils are made @ various ohm ratings, not just 4 ohm but some people don't realize that I guess. They think just brcause it's 2 ohm that they are 2 voice coils @ 4 ohm. The 2 wires are because they are bi-amped. One set of wires are for the woofer & one to the tweeter. Each having thier own amplified cross overed signal. (woofer & tweeter) Anyways,.... Anyone care to wager???:D
