View Full Version : i have 1992 grand am with 3300, will a 1993 buick 3300 fit in my car

Im wondering, i just blew my headgasket at 123,000 miles and found a 1993 buick ciera motor with 21k also a 3300. Any complications/problems? Should i go for it or fix the head gasket on my motor?

It shouldn't be too hard to get it in there. I'm not sure if it's a direct bolt on or not, but I'm sure it can fit. Other members on here who are more techincally inclined can offer you more info. :D

I would bet it's identical. THat's just a guess though.

the engines are the same. the oil pans may be different. mine had the oil level sensor pan. the olds won't. unless yours doesn't have the sensor. cooling lines to the surge tank may be different, and the cooling line that goes to the thermostat housing may need to swap over from your grand am.

swapping will be easier. it is advisable to put in a timing chain,front cover seal and change all the plugs (while you can reach them with the motor out). repair any leaks or things that you know you won't be able to reach readily when the motor goes back into the car. once it's in, you don't want to do anything , but drive the thing. better safe than sorry, but that's just me......... good luck.
