Theres a horrible knocking noise, it would cost me $5000 to replace it, so....off to the dealer I go. Probably get another GA with a 2.4L or a Sunfire GT.
Ive owned it 3 years, put 60000 miles on it, and the thought of parting with it makes my heart ache.

Its true. But the car is only worth $3000 at the very most, so why not just start with a clean slate, eh? Plus my dad will help in the downpayment department.

Going for a slightly used one? My 2003 cost me less than half of the price of a new 2004, and it only had 12,000 miles on it.

That's too bad Jay but I'm sure you'll grow just as attached to the new one.

Man that sucks. Good luck with everything.
Better to have lost and lost, then breakdown in the middle of the road.
R.I.P. GA.

Well, I looked at 2003 Proteges, loaded they go for around $15-16k, but the locl dealership has 2004 Sunfires going for $11,000..must be the "last of the line" models.

I have to say that I'm looking at a 2004 Sunfire Coupe with 15 inches rims, sunroof and cd player for 12500$ CDN + taxes.
They call this model : Sunfire Sportec

lol, not the size of the boat, it's the motion in the ocean. so if a 4 banger does it for you stick with it man
sorry to hear about the car. i know how you feel about parting ways with your ride. it only gets tougher when you drive off from her for the last time

with the price of gas i wouldnt even consider a v8 right now. id be looking at a diesel VW. then again i dont own anything smaller than 300 CI but thats my own stupidity from before gas skyrocketed to over $2/gal.

Heh, and check out my logic right now.... with the high gas prices, do I A) drive a 1979 DeVille with a 425 that gets 12mpg, or B) drive a 1989 Oldsmobile with a 3800 V6, plenty of power, and gets 21/32mpg? DUH!.... the '79.... $50 to go about 220miles.... yeah it sucks....
....Actually I wanted to put the '79 on the road for awhile, hopefully this week I will have the '93 back on... well, I need it back on the road for the meet this weekend, need to get that motor mount replaced....
Jay, I am surprised to hear about this.... you couldn't go to a junkyard and find an engine for a couple hundred bucks? I know a local junkyard here charges $100 for an engine from a car.... just that your car is in nice shape.....
.... You gotta show us some pics of the SunFlower....err..... fire :D

yea my logic isnt the greatest right now ither. i got the camaro which since it pretty much only sees highway gets about 20-21 mpg with OD and 3.23 gears
the 86 bronco i dont even keep track as it would be running horrible gas mileage as it dont have OD and its just a dog and prolly guzzles the gas
then there is the 79 Bronco. not running yet but will have a freshly rebuil 300 with a Offy DP intake and EFI dual exhaust mani's and a Edelbrock 600 CFM performer carb to top it. has a 3.50 gearset and will have a 4 speed Manual OD tranny. should be right around 15 mpg i hope.
