I guess i should add what else is wrong. Two bad window motors, control arm, that damn ticking noise, and my recent tranny problem (read my other posts to find out what i mean) Also from what the mechanic said, i have an oil pan gasket leak, front crankshaft seal leak, and tranny lines leaking tranny fluid. Im so mad at pontiac, but not much i can do since warranty has expired:2up:
On a good note, i just replaced a torn CV boot a few weeks ago, thats one down and many more to go.............

my 96 corsica has 111,000 miles, all ive dont to it was repair the alternator and fix a bad gasket on the timing chain cover, the previous owners must have taken great care of this car, the engine was spotless when i bought it, and not just cleaned up to sell, there was nothing corroded or rusted, not a single piece of dirt, all the cables and covers were spotless

I have over 183k miles on my 96 GT, so far I've replaced driver & passenger side window motors, 2 windshields, 2 tranies, 3 alternators, 2 motor mount bolts, 1 brake booster, 1 pair struts, countless tires & brake pads, 2 pairs of rotors, 3 sets of belts, 2 tune-ups, 1 radiator, all cooling lines, 1 heater core 3 sets of headlights & fog lights, I think that's all. Car seems to be running pretty well although I'm having some intermittent idling problems and every now and then the power steering seems to make some noise. I guess those are my next repairs. I do run my car hard 75-80mph daily! It doesn't burn or leak any oil, which I'm extremely happy about. I keep the engine compartment so clean you'd think it was almost brand new.

I bought the car brand new in Dec. '97 w/ 40 miles on the odometer. For the most part, the problems haven't been too bad. I've always put synthetic 5W-30 in the crankcase.
The engine specific problems I've had are replacing the #1 fuel injector (would get stuck while idling, resulting in a misfire) and the intake manifold gasket! Thank you GM for using a plastic gasket! It's a $70 part that requires a boat load of labor! The #5 fuel injector is misfiring intermintently according to the OBD reader. It hasn't caused the "CHECK ENGINE" light to come on, but the car idles a little rough. I'm buying a pickup in December and I'm going to keep the GA as a daily driver until it explodes on me! LOL
Oh, I still have the original exhaust system!

83.5K Miles on my 1994 GT---Bought in 11/02 with 70K
The slow coolant leak everyone is haveing a problem with that stems back to 1982 when the 2.8L was introduced in the Citation. Its section of the head gasket. Sometimes it just leaks out to nowhere (mine is leaking onto my water pump) and sometimes it leaks into the oil. Take a look at your heads....right where the lower corner of the head and the manifold meet....I can almost guarantee that's where everyone's leak is comming from. It usually happens on the front head....but sometimes on the back too.

I have a 96 Grand Am that has 115,078 and it is still going stonge, but the in-take is leaking coolest and oil. She need some work but she is a good car. Can someone tell me if the same thing has happened to them or any thing that would be helpful to me. Also the back speckers don't work all the time has anyone had prombles with the stero if you have can you please tell me if you know how to fix it or anything that may help fix the prombles. Thank you for any help you can tell me.:) :) :D

stuffster;
Yes the problem you are having with the leaks in the intake area are common on the 3100 engine. The only fix for it is to remove the upper intake plenum and lower intake manifold and replace the intake manifold seal. This is a problem you should get corrected as soon as you can. Because if it starts leaking into your engine oil, you will have much more serious problems.
As for your rear speaker problem, do you have the original sound system or an aftermarket system. It sounds llike you have a loose connection somewhere. Start by checking your connections at the speakers and work your way forward to the stereo. My first guess would be a bad connection at the plug that goes into the back of your stereo. 18 posts later in this thead I now have 125,000. I have never had any gasket problems with my 3100 except for maybe a very slow oil leak out of the lower manifold (probibly a gasket), but by the time I need to add I need an oil change anyway. I mostly have electrical problems with my car as of the present, but that doesn't have anything to do with the engine.
