I have a 2000 grand am gt with the 3.4. I drove it yesterday and parked it and coolant dropped flowed like lava. No lights came on etc. I opened the hood and it appears the coolant is coming from the water pump as the belt is spitting the coolant up towards the hood. Is there another problem I could have as this is on the passenger side and I have heard a lot about intake gaskets? How hard is it to change the water pump? I thought it would be easy and then had someone tell me its hard and you have to drop the motor. If anyone has info please let me know. Thanks.

Waterpump is a easy job. Use a 10 MM socket and remove the 4 bolts holding the cover on, then take it off along with the belt. When thats removed, [forgot the socket size] remove the bolts that hold the waterpump on. Clean off old gasket material, replace gasket and reverse install. The motor doesnt have to be dropped. Whoever told you that, should be dropped from a building.
