im undecided on which size speakers to get for my front doors. it will 5 1/4 fit without any modding at all? i remember someone saying it fits right over the 4 x 6 piece. if this is true please let me know. also how do u get the different grill cover piece to fit?

yes, the 5 1/4 will fit right into the 4x6 holder but you must surround the area wiht dynamat or some other material so that you dont have open air between the front and the rear or the speaker. I know for my Type-S, I didnt notice any problems without the added material though.

it just depends on what you're wanting to use them for. if you're wanting a full range speaker i'd go with the 6 1/2s. if you're wanting ease of installation go with the 5 1/4s. the 6 1/2s will give you a bit more midrange than the 5 1/4s will, but you have to consider price difference and the difficulties of getting the 6 1/2s to fit. a majority of the people around here have 5 1/4s over 6 1/2s.
and no, you don't necessarily need new speaker grilles

I have 6.5's in my door. I am not very good with cars or stereo stuff at all and I installed my speakers in the door. My friend helped at first.... but I got the other one in on my own.
Its not tooooooo hard to put them in. All you have to do is make a spacer, screw that into the frame, then take your speakers and screw that into the spacer. Its quite simple.
Im not to sure if you'd need anything like dynamat or anything of that nature. I dont hear any raddles from my speakers, but I sure get them from the MOMO.

I have Diamond 6 1/2 components with the 1" tweeter in my door everything is put into a plate i cut out of 3/4" MDF. just get some longer screws and the plate can screw right into the factory mounts.
