I think it might be a missfire or a fuel pressure problem. I have replaced my spark plugs, boots, fuel filter, fuel pressure, regulator, ignition coils, ignition coil housing, and had my pcm checked out. its ok the car is acting like it wants to stall. when iam at a stop the car jumps and you have to floor it to go its acting like it has a bad miss fire or its just not getting fuel. The rpms are jumping up when its doing this. The rpms are sitting at 6500. I dont know where they are supose to be at. Please any help!!:bawl:

It could or may be these two things:

1) The IAT (Intake Air Temputure) Sensor

or

2)The Throttle Posistion Sensor

I take when it does this, the idle goes way up, so high that you can let off the pedal and it will still accelarate in idle?

Yes it does act like it wants to go when i let off the brake before i even touch the gas. i have replaced the tps ill go ahead and replace the iat and see what happens that just might be it, there not to exspensive are they?I know when i had the tps replaced about two months ago my engine light was on after that was replaced my light went off.

Hmm I don't think it would be the IAT sensor. It just runs like shit when its out/bad. It doesn't make the rpms jump that high. TPS could be it. hmm fuel system could be the problem(injectors) but I still don't see how it would also affect the rpms that much. Does it really jump up to 6500 rpms??

Is it an auto? Is the engine revving but the car isn't moving. The tranny could be slipping. What happens if you don't give it gas at a stop. Does it actually stall?

Iam sorry i counted the rpms wrong there at 1200 at a normal idle witch i think is too low.i think it might be my fuel pump? if i am at an idle with my foot on the brake and let off the car will go by its self.if iam at an idle in park the rpms jump about 600. its an auto it hasent stalled yet. the other day me and my sister were leaving mc donalds and the light had just turnd yellow when i was under it and i was giving it gas but it was not going i was thinking oh my god i am going to get hit the all of a sudden the car spun and took off like a rocket and my daughter wore her sprite and everyone shot back in there seat. it doesnt do this at high speeds at least i dont notice it.

Normal idle at operating temperture in about 600 rpms. When its cold it can idle higher like at 1200 rpms until the engine reaches operating temperature.

If your giving it gas in drive and its not moving it sounds like the tranny is slipping. My first tranny did that and when they took it apart the tranny was in raelly bad shape. It also got worse once you drive it around a bit. WHen I would first start the car the tranny would be fine but after about 10-15 in would start slipping really bad. Any unsual sounds coming from your car?

it might be as simple as a fuel filter too. :)

ok i just noticed something differant at an idle the rpms are sitting at 600 when the car jumps the rpms are going down before they jump up to like 1000 then steady out. the car is idling to low iam going to get a new idal air control valve and see what happens.

We've had a similiar problem with our '99. The dealer has had it twice once changed plugs and boots, today they updated the computer (new calibration updates) and found no codes in modules.... but could not replicate the problem this time.

The car is spoiled and typically the wifes grocery getter, only 57000km, dealer serviced... and only mod is a k&n.
We first started noticing intermittent "stumbling" on the highway once a week or so.....now (a year later) it can happen in park warming up in the driveway or at a stop in drive. It's like it almost stalls and then something trys to compensate and the revs jump from 600 to like 1800 for just a second.

Been wondering if we should change the fuel filter or if too many short trip running premium unleaded have fouled the intake or injectors (read recently the higher octane fuel than reccommended can adversely affect injectors... I've always thought cleaner more efficent burn...)..

:???: Thoughts ??? Similiarities???:???:

mine only does it at an idle runs fine otherwise I just cleaned around the spark plugs thinking the ignition might be grounding out to the engine because of all the dirt and oil it hasent done it sence but i need to clean it a bit better its still dirty and hopefully it will fix it.

oh yea my car is spoiled also risalone and stp every oil change every 3000 miles and enjection cleaner and only the best gas on every fill up. Everything is done to that car on time
