I was wondering where I could find the instructions and maybe some pictures for installing a JET chip. I looked on their website but they dont have any instructions for the 99 GA. I bought this from a guy on ebay. it has all the wires and everything that goes with the chip except the instructions. Please help

This is the way I found it works best regardless of what the instructions say. They say to connect the red (hot) wire to a switched source. That will give you an SES light.

1. Connect the red wire to the positive terminal of the fuse box under the hood. (If there's no in-line fuse, buy one and attach it between the red wire an the positive terminal.)

2. Connect the Black wire to a good ground. I used a bolt on the fender well.

3. There is a Dark Blue wire on the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). The TPS has 3 wires going to it. Strip about 1/4 inch of that wire. Don't cut it. Connect the Brown wire to it, solder, and tape it off.

4. The next part is the hardest. If you look in front of the coil packs and behind the upper intake you'll see a black box. That's the MAP sensor. Remove the box carefully by taking out the 2 screws and move it off to the side. You can disconnect the small vacuum line. Now cut the Light Green wire. There's not much to play with so be careful. Solder and tape the Grey Wire onto the wire that's still attached to the MAP Sensor. Solder and tape the Green Wire to the other wire.

5. Screw the Map Sensor back on.

You can leave the Jet Module on....it will turn off by itself. It doesn't need to be on a switched source.

I can leave it on? Adam said I would have to turn it off and then on to keep the computer good. Also he said I would have to run 89+ fuel. This wont be a problem for me. I just filled up on 87 yesterday so should I run it to almost empty b4 I start putting in 89?

Also, when you say cut the light green wire for the map sensor do you mean cut it closer to the box or leave as much wire connected to the box?

Theres a picture of the chip.
I dont really see a brown wire on it.

Keep the computer good? All it does is adjust your A/F ratio. When I was running mine I never shut it off when I was at the track and it worked fine. A far as 89 octane...that's what they recommend but I didn't notice any difference except in my wallet.

Actually just cut it in half. Don't lose any wire when you strip it because you'll barely have enough anyway.

 Old wives tale......it won't get rid of any limiters at all no matter what you've heard.

What colors are the wires?? List them for me. I have a brown wire on mine. Oh...and what's the model number??

Like I said, I got the chip off a guy on ebay. Hasnt gotten here yet, but I was trying to get the instructions so I would be ready to install when it does get here. In the picture, I am seeing a red, black, blue, light blue, yellow and maybe a green wire.

thats the link to the auction. What kinds of performance gains am I looking at with the JET chip?

Since you didn't get it yet I wouldn't worry about the wire colors. There looks to be a brown wire peeking through at the bottom.

Honestly I couldn't tell you about gains since I never dyno'd it. Some guys say that they can feel a huge difference and will even say that they catch second gear with them on. I've heard them say that it took away their limiter and they can hit 140 MPH.

To be honest....I think this is what's really going up and not their speedometer. :bsmeter:

Its all good. I only paid 90 dollars for it and on JEGs they are all well over 200 dollars. once I have this i will have intake, straight exhaust, and the jet chip mod. plus a screenless MAF

That's the way I feel about the one I have. I didn't pay much for it so it's okay.

Yeah cheap HP is nice. I was looking at www.jetchip.com and the HP gains for the alero 3.4L unmodded is 12-24. They also had a Grand Am unmodded but it didnt have an engine size. It said 13-15. So maybe I will be looking at a little more because I have unrestricted a lot of the air flow.

I couldn't tell you......if notice there are no dyno results for either of them. To be perfectly honest, if there was a 5 to 10 HP gain I'd be very surprised. For under 100 bucks, 5 would be plenty...

So how would I switch over to 89? Do I just add it to what I have, or run the tank down then put 89 in?

that Jet chip basically adjusts the spark and allow more fuel to be put in,creating a little more hp but it will use up more gas,of course.......When switchin to a different octane just run as much gas as you can b4 you actually run out then fill up:)

Yea Id use one if I could get one cheaper then 200,its not worth the 200 for little it really dose.I mean its a nice gadget when your at the track,a lot of dragsters use them and it helps a lot but for actual HP,don't expect a lot, maybe 5 at most,if any more then I'd be suprised. It will help your E/T time but not your overall HP.

I agree. The surprising thing is that I've gone both ways at the track, on and off, and my best times have always been with it on. I'm not really sure how big a difference it makes because it's not a seat of your pants thing but it hasn't hurt me.

On the website it does claim to get rid of the top speed limiter on 1999-2003 GM vehicles. Anyways though, where is the TPS? i see a bunch of little wiring harnesses everywhere. I think there was like 3 different wiring harnesses with just 3 wires going into it.
