Will deck from 04 work same in an 02?

Ok.. my dad just got his 04 grand am se, he has the monsoon system, his deck.. has CD & MP3.... my 02, has CD & Tape, i'd much rather have the mp3, and my dad would rather have the tape.

Now, i know they can be changed.. wouldn't cause any problems.. but just for my peice of mind, is his SE system gonna pump as good as mine does? (I have a GT) and any problems that would accure?

Plus.. his is a lease.. think they'd notice that when he brought it back? :)

Your only problem will be the whole theft lock stuff

The Theft lock wouldn't be a problem, just as long as you know the code on both headunits. What I'd be concerned about is......are both vehicles Monsoon? If your swapping a Monsoon headunit into a non Monsoon car, its not going to work. I haven't come across any '04's yet, but I'd imagine the harnesses would be the same.

hmmm about the lease part....I never dealt with any leasing on my own, so I don't know how well they go over things, but If your replacing the 04's deck with another GM Deck (that says monsoon on it) I don't think they'd catch it...or care that much, Provided that it works. :)
