Hey i got tha 3.4 v6 and i tell ya, tha low end torque sucks after addin the air intake, what can i add to bring my low end torque up? Money isn't a big issue at tha time so im out looking for anything i can find, ive looked into a supercharger but damn gas is gonna end up triplin in my wallet and after awhile that will affect me so im not lookin $4700 worth but yal know what i mean, a pcm upgrade or programmer would be great if i could find one, how can i find the jet one? Does porting and polishin do any good considering our cars are ran off the computer and the comp won't register it so ide have to reprogram it myself right?

if you read the section heading, it says "ABSOLUTELY NO TECHNICAL QUESTIONS TO BE POSTED IN HERE!!!!!"
if you look in the obvious place for your answer, i.e. the performance section, you will find a similar thread which is already 2 pages long.

We all do. :) If you want more torque, no computer will do that for you. You will need to go deep into the engine; your best bet is to bore out the cylinders .030"...then you will have gobs of torque.
Remember: Increasing air in and exhaust out, will increase HP, increasing displacement will increase torque.

a good bet to regain the lost torque from the CAI is the Pro-M MAF.

bore out my cylinders? Ive heard of that but how is it done? Is there a link u can give me with instructions or do i need to make a lil visit to a machine shop? How much am i lookin to spend if i do that? And about the exhaust....will it sound bad if i decide to stick with the 2.5? Im takin out my lights in the rear bumper and runnin the tips thru there so hopefuly itll add a pretty nice look to it! im actually considering the 2.25 due to the fact of that low end torque, which is what im lackin...im also lookin into a TPS (throttle position sensor) off of PFYC.com...it sounds good but does anyone have any opinions on it?

its very hard to do, you need a pro to do it. the engine has to come apart, and you need the proper tools to bore, hone, ect....
im guesing its about $1000

with 2.5 you will loss low end. stick with 2.25. Theres a guy on her that just added 2.5 and he lost about 10lbs at low RPM, but he gained alot at high RPM

alright this is going to powertrain performance for some more answers.

sorry if i was rude.. i'm pretty much a newbie too. guess you could say i was looking for a chance to act like an oldie =-D
the 'TPS enhancer' does the same thing as your right foot does on the gas pedal. just get some shoes with thicker soles.. same effect.
polyurethane motor and transmission mounts would help regain the torque lost to the drivetrain.. and you can probably install them yourself.

The Pro-M MAF is a little tough to install. Once the silicone is stretched out enough to go around it, though, it's simple.

HHmmm, decisions decisions.....lol 2.5 or 2.25....i wonder why a quarter inch makes such a huge difference....hey ramairgt, i love tha quote i agree with you 200%! American muscle all the way! lol...so the tps enhancer.....waste of money? or good idea? I really think im gonna stick with 2.25....the rims im lookin at are alba bank 797 18's....add a pretty touch of chrome to the grand am...i love white cars....grand ams....on chrome rims!

2.25" diameter = 1.125" radius ~ 3.97 square inch area
2.5" diameter = 1.25" radius ~ 4.91 square inch area.
it's just geometry. a large pizza is bigger than two small pizzas.

Raised compression does wonders :)

Well, I have the TPS enhancer, and I would say that I am not disappointed for the price I bought it. I wouldn't say to spend all the money that PFYC wants. Do like I did and but it off someone (here or e-bay).

Is the block on the 3400 thick enough to bore much w/o having any problems? And has anyone heard of it being done?

with 2.5 you will loss low end. stick with 2.25. Theres a guy on her that just added 2.5 and he lost about 10lbs at low RPM, but he gained alot at high RPM That would be me Themeneea, lost roughly 10 hp and 12 ft-lbs of torque at 3800 rpms. I then matched the hp and torque at 4400 rpms and then made a max power increase of 30 WHP and 30 ft-lbs of torque at 5500 rpms. Unfortunatly, my before stops at that, but it would continue on downhill so at redline of 6000, I might have made 35 or so WHP and ft-lbs of torque from my before of just a CAI vs my after of a CAI+2.5" cat-back exhaust.

I think diameter. But boring at .060" is pointless unless you need a rebuild, all you're doing is ruining your chances of being able to bore out your cylinders w/o resleeving if a problem ever arises. The real power comes from stroker kits (assuming they make one for the 3400).
