Okay I already know that the 99+ ga have 5/115 bolt pattern. Man do you know how hard it is to find rims with that bolt pattern. I also know that the 99+ ga also have a 38 mm offset.(man if i'm wrong please correct me). I see alot of rims with 5/114.3. will this size fit. and if it does is it safe. I want a good looking rim but also want on that is safe.

You can use 114.3 , but you need a hubcentric ring & lugnuts to make them work . Ask a tire shop about them . Offset is important because you want your rims to be centered in the wheel well so your tires are not rubbing on anything .

I'm pretty sure stock offset is 42mm. I'm running Enkei RSV 18x7 w/ 225/40's and 35mm offset, no problems at all. :)

It is very easy to get rims with 5/115 bolt pattern as long as you order your rims instead of buying them off ebay or someone selling them privately. I bought my motegi rims at Tire Barn. You tell them what you want, they call up the companies, they see if they have those rims to fit your car exactly, and if they do, they send the rims to the shop. Easy as that. There about a billion choices for rims out there, if you go to a place that specializes in tires and rims, they can definetly find something to your likings that will fit your car perfectly.

Not sure on the stock offset, but i do know that up to a 48 offset will fit, as i have them in my car now. So anything 48 and below will work.

That may depend on different wheel width, a 48mm width rim may work on your GA but might not on another depending on how wide the wheel is.:D

Huh?
K, well a 17x7 rim with a 48 offset and a 215-45-17 tire will fit a 99+ grand am with no rubbing etc.

stock offset is 42mm and no 5x115 are not easy to find. you might be ablt to fit a 7" wide 48mm offset, but you won't fit a 7.5" or 8" rim with an offset that high.

Why would you run a 215 size tire when the stock GT size is a 225mm tire. You could have easily gone with a 225/45/17 on your car. In fact, that's the most common size when going to a 17inch wheel on GA's.:???:

Ahh thats a lil better put.
Was a typo too on my behalf, actually a 215-50-17 is what i have.
I wanted the car to sit the same, and have the same wheel gap as stock, well until I lower it down the road.
I wanted sumthing closest to stock and keep everything in check, speedo etc, but have the 17's.

Only problem with the hubcentric rings is they break VERY easy and are not dependable!!! Be cautious if you go this way!!! Just buy this right wheels for your GA. That's what I would do!!!

Adam The lug nuts hold the wheels in place on the car . The rings just center them correctly , they don't hold the wheels on . Also 5X115 wheels aren't that easy to find .

what is a stock width of the rim? 7 inch?

Stock 16 inch wheels are 6.5 inches, I'm not sure on the width of any other smaller wheels that were offered on the GA.:D

Anybody ever run P255/40ZR17s on a GA, and if so what Offset would I need? 34mm or less?

You'd likely have to go with a rim at least 8 inches wide, maybe 8.5 wide. With that I would think an offset of 38mm to 42mm max. Really, 255's are extreme overkill IMO.:)

I go by the Pontiac Motto, wider is better :-) and I plan on running this thing in road course racing.
