is there any way i could remove it from the hood instead of going through the fender well?

You have to take the drivers side headlight out. I ended up having to do some cutting with a dremel and got it all out. Once you do get the headlight out you will see the black plastic piping

so theres no way i could just pop open the hood and cut it just as it is and remove it?

i mean ju cut it off right at the airbox? or the piping beneath it has too many twists and bends?

lol theres a way. You pop off the drivers side tire and the black wheel well cover i belive if thats what your talking about. Then you disconnect everything to it.

sounds harder then my 97 was....The airbox then the plastic tube,that just poped out(had to pull on it) then pulled back the wheel well lining and the big black plastic box there i just unscrewed and it fell out.
