My local crappy tire has a good deal on a brake job and my car needs one badly....Only catch is that the deal is for "Monroe" brakes. I was considering the Raybestos that everyone recommends, but this deal sounds good for my student budget (new pads all around and new rotors up front installed and out the door for about $300 cdn which is like $220 US).

How good are these brakes compared to OEM? The brakes come with a 3 year/60k km warranty, but if they are anything like the stock ones I'll shell out for the Raybestos...Thanks in advance for any tips.

The Monroe brakes are made to vehicle specific friction formulations . Meaning they match OEM specs . They look like good quality pads though . I doubt the rotors are worse than the stock ones ! CTC sells Wagner Severe Duty brake pads as well . ( I think they're carbon metallic . )
