i have heard extensive rumors that chevy built a twin turbo for the cavy, i was just wondering if that was true or not.. also if thats not true, i still think there is a turbo for a cavy 2.2.. well just wondering if this was all true or not.

More like exploded racing. All i have heard was bad things about them. And a TT kit for the 2.2L would be a complete waste. With suck a small motor, 2 tiny ass turbos would be needed and it would be usless.

Exploded Racing was a company started by a 18 year old kid out of his garage about a year or two ago. I think he recently moved into a slightly bigger facility. Ambitious kid but personally I'd sooner go with someone more experienced, especially when were talking about forced induction.
Chevy had built a turbo as a concept and called it the Cavalier Turbo Sport but it wasn't a twin turbo. I beleive it had a Garret T28, which I think is a small turbo. It made about either 180hp or 220hp (I can't remember) and ran a 15.3 in the quarter, kinda slow but that was with 19inch wheels and other electronic/stereo crap weighing it down.
Hahn Racecraft has a turbo kit that will put down some sonster numbers and have built a kit in conjunction with GM.
Don't quote me on those numbers, they're from memory. Hope that helps.

lol jay. i think GM has a s/c from their inhouse shop that might fit the eco, but i not sure. and if the 2.4 GM s/c only gets you to 205 (Ion) i'd rather stick to the RSM kit. something that i will be able to afford after i done with Iraq tour.and yes, a TT kit would be a waste of money on any4banger. tho i heard of someone doing a custom built 3100 TT 97GAGT. never got a chance to see the car, but i do believe the girl that owned it.

um, I thought it was impossible to put TT on a 4 banger... you've only got one head.. one exhaust manifold..

Personally, anyone that puts a twin turbo setup on a street driven 3100, 3400, or 4 cylinder is a complete moron. Not only is it a waste of time, money and resources, but it is highly uneffective unless you have a race prepped and built motor, along with race suspension, and a properly built race transmission.

Twin turbo=headachs.
Get a nice single turbo like a T3, if you really need more a nice T44 would do the trick.

I think a 'moron' is a bit harsh.
And to be honest, there is no difference in turbo or twin turbo, so any of the above should apply for any forced induction.

But I do agree, a twin turbo setup on nearly any vehicle, street or race can be a waste. Sometimes it is easier to put twin turbos on instead of a single, for example a RWD V8.

427 tt... DROOL 0-60 under 2 with a top speed of 240.... it will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine (sorry just watched wane's world)

so far gm only has a crate supercharged 2.0 ecotec for about $4300 (forgot exact price) but last time i checked it was on a nation wide back order and yes it is 205hp and is the stock motor out of the ion redline... the supercharger it self should be avilable by next year but the parts guy at my dealership coulden't get me anymore info :???: (i love bugging him on my breaks)

but for a forced induction eco; a good idea is to get parts from the saab 9-3 turbo ( hopefully i will be doing this soon)

It is possible to twin turbo an inline engine. On semi's you can run twin turbosa nd they have inline sixes. My buddy is thinking about doing that on his Cab over Kenworth. You piggy back the turbos, but you have to do it right, and you can then have the first turbo spin easy enough to make boost at idle, when you get on it the first turbo spools up and the second (bigger turbo) is spooled up and you make monster power levels.... I think I saw 1400 horse out of a 400 Cummins..... Of course this is a big diesel not a tiny 4 banger, I think twin turbos on an eco would be a waste........

I was reading somewhere, a forum, the new cobalt ss put down 217whp and 221ft lbs torque with a k&n drop in, I have to ask where it was posted, I'll post it later.

And honestly, turboing is cool, but if you're cars a 5spd manual, I would just swap in a 3400 v6. That would be cheaper (it basically fits without trouble, just custom mounts) and would make almost as much power with some mods.

The last time I heard twin turbo and cavalier in the same sentence it was about a full drag car with a fibreglass body that resembled a cavi with a twin-turbo 3.4L DOHC (1600HP).
