Check engine light...very interesting...

ok well i took my car in to get it fixed with a bunch of problems it had....and when i wanted to pick it up...they told me they couldnt fix the check engine light problem....they said maybe there was something wrong with my computer and that i should take it to pontiac dealership to get it fixed...anyways 4 days later....i got out with my girl....turn off the car...and 2 hours later turn it back on, and the light isnt on anymore...and my ets started working too...i was pretty darn happy...anyways anyone know why it took so long for the light to go away?

hey man.. i kinda get the same problem sometime.. basically put.. sometimes when im pounding my stereo a little wire under the hood detaches.. causing the check engine light to go on.. thats all it is for me.. and it will go on for a couple days.. then turn off and thats that.. maybe you have the same thing with your car..

do you got subs? well i noticed the problem after i got my subs.. but yea.. its hard as hell for mechanics to find.. it took my mechanics all day to try and figure out why my check engine light was on and only by fluke did they see the disconnected wire.. sure wish i could tell you what it was.. my light has turned on again so ill probably take my car into the shop and this time ask if its the same wire and if it is.. where is it.. i will probably take my car in on friday.. so sorry but i wont be able to give any updates till then

Supposidly, if the problem gets fixed somehow (ie. loose gas cap being tightened) after, I believe it was 40 starts and the light will go away. Thats what my mechanic told me.

well my light just turned off on my way home today.. but yea.. 40 seems right..
