I am looking to find out what the fastest all-motor grand am is? I want to know for both 4 cylinders and 6 cylinders.
Also, I wanted to know if anyone knows what the fastest "power adder" grand am is? 4 and 6 cylinder..

KillerQuad is the fastest GA right now, with a good dose of juice. I assume that's who Colin is refering to.
Fastest sc to date that I know of is 13.7 with n2o. Fastest just boost I think is 13.8...both those guys are on gagt.com.

At the meet there was a Grand Am doing 8.5 sec in the quarter mile...

There was an 8-second drag car that frequents Atco Raceway NJ. 85-88 SE, full drag prepped, cage, BB V8, chute, etc.
On GA powertrane, KillerQuad prolly has that spot.

Fastest V6 3400 Grand Am that's still street legal in existance belongs to Richard Jefferies of Humble Texas. It's a 2000 4 door that run's 11.7's on a twin turbo setup. The turbos as well as intercooler are borrowed from a Grand National. Rich has about 10,000 miles on the car.
All motor I'm not honestly sure on. There have been a couple break into the high 14's on all motor.
Unless you're talking NHRA style in which case GA's often dip well into the 6's.
As far as 4 bangers, there are so many stories out there regarding them. I don't know what you tell you is the truth and isn't.

IIRC Pat's (Schweppe23) GA has run a best of 13.8 with a blower and Alky. He's a member here also, and visited the Albany GAOC meet last weekend.

That's right John.....he ran it last week at Quaker in Salem, Oh with his tranny slipping. BTW.....that's a really slow track, about a .2 sec difference between there and Norwalk.

I think fastest is me, just as long as I can fix my launch and 60 foot times due to tire spin.

if Sorry_Officer ever went to a real track on a better day, he'd whoop my butt. he ran a 14.87 at Milan in 90° heat with no traction. BUT since he hasn't.........;)
Oh, and KillerQuad ran a 12.07 IIRC. He's been featured in High Performance Pontiac also.

Are there any pics and specs on this car? I don't like turbos. But if I can get 12 sec car out of it... I wouldn't mind investing in that kind of money.
Do you how to get ahold of Jefferies?

Im curious. As to these times n/a on the 3400.. are these at sea level? The reason im curious is becaue I myself am going to try to be getting inot this elite list. The problem is, im sitting 2200 ft ASL which makes a huge dampener on my times ( obviously, not breaking into the 15's with my mods is something very sad if it WERE at sea level). Also are we talking slicks or n/s as well.
Old Guy
06-20-2004, 03:45 PM
Those times are not altitude adjusted. Mine is from Lebanon Valley which is IIRC 1200'. It doesn't matter if you're running street tires of slicks.

see, now you all are making me want to be back in the states with my car. BUT, if i get home for R&R and my car is not in the shop, i will ride down to the local dragway in western md (near hagerstown) and run it on the mods listed, well, maybe some drag radials.

I wouldn't say a thing of beauty, but thanks. I hope to make a best of 13.5 next year, with consistent 13.7's or .8's. Then i can move to the beauty department...LOL. Maybe get the scratches repaired:)

How often do you change the fluid etc etc...

You've got over 120,000kms on the tranny and you've been pushing all that power through it and the fluid is still from the factory?
