I'm gonna convert my car over to a gt. I don't want to drive around with dual spots and only one pipe so i want to know how much to save so i can get both done at the same time. Also what should i get? I think i want 2.25" pipes because i have been reading how larger pipes cause a loss in torque. The gt exhaust setup looks cheap. I would rather get something better depending on the price. I don't want anything too loud, just noticable. What kind of mufflers should I get and how much will it cost? What should i ask a shop when getting quotes. Also i want some nice, polished, oblong tips that pretty much fill the space. My current SE exhaust tip would be to small.

You're going to have to check around the site. I know you can get a single muffler with dual outlets that will work on your 96, rather than having to get two mufflers.

Otherwise, you will want to get 2 same sized mufflers and have a 'Y' pipe made to feed them.

As to muffler specifics, look at what most people here have used, Flowmasters seeming to be the most popular choice. Just find ones that fit.

I'd also suggest going cat-back (of course) but remove your resonator for a little more sound.

I do not recommend Ravin' mufflers as they do not last. Look and sound great, and might have good pricing, but they rotted out on me in less than 2 years.

Well the factory dual exhaust has a T pipe so it looks like most of the exhaust would go through the left muffler. The right muffler is a lot smaller than the left. I was reading on hear that Flows make the most noise and i don't really want that.

i never noticed the t-pipe of the Gts, but a y pipe should get a more even flow between the two mufflers, but i doubt it would flow anybetter.

Exactly, the left muffler is bigger because one pipe in and two out, one going to ride-side muffler. I had to put on that type when my custom exhaust totally gave out, and it looked like shit. I ended up spraying the back sides of both mufflers flat-black in order to reduce how noticeable the two different sized muffler are.

That's why I was saying to look around the site, and see what people put on their cars. I know at least one person on the site has a single sideways mounted muffler with dual outlets on his 92 - 98 era GT. It looks fine.

I only mentioned the Flowmasters as they seem to be most popular. I guess you're going to have to use the http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/images/big_search.gif button to find something more to your sound likings.
