Not sure of specific trannies, but over the weekend at a junkyard I saw ~20 Quad4 DOHC LOs mated to automatics.

And where the hell are you that there are only manualls with quads? All i know is that ive been looking for a ga with a manuall trany here in SE Kansas for a while now and they dont seem too exist.

The Quad 4 HO only came with manual trannies, but other variants of the Q4 all could be found with autos. I thought they came with 4T45 trannies (with the E designation in '94-95), but I really don't know for sure. My old '89 actually had the old tranny designation, which I can't even remember anymore...THM-285 or something?

Yep, what Brad said. ^

Regardless of year, all manual GA's are hard to find. (I was on the lookout for any 92-94 HO for well over a year)

Also, there was no manual offered on the 92-94 LD2 (DOHC, non-HO) so all 92-94 DOHC manuals were GT's with the HO. 95 was the oddball, manual available on both SE & GT LD2. (no HO in 95)

Wow, you learn something new every day! I always assumed you could get a manual-LD2 combo in the '92-'94 model years.

Yea, me too. I never saw any, but wasn't positive until I purchased some old dealer brochures. The options chart shows all engine and transaxle combos. There's also some sales propaganda on how the "DOHC is specially optimized for the automatic transmission."

But... you can get a GT with automatic LD2. (and I saw one in a junkyard)

Haha, if any of GM's engines needs a manual tranny, it's the Q4...gotta love propaganda!

LOL, maybe their theory was the torque convertor would help mask the lack of low end torque?
