Ok if you have heard the 99 and up grand am sound systems and I think they sound really good and my question is If I replace my 6x9s will they have the same deep bass as my current stock speakers or will it make it sound worse. I know some of you have had to of changed these. Is it the design of the deck lid or design of the speaker in other words. I know my friend has a 2001 SE and My system still sounds better then his would anyone know the difference in that either?

you'll lose bass but gain mids/highs.....it's a trade off situation. it's the speaker. dont know what would make yours sound better than his. could be pride in your car :???:

Naw has nothing to do with pride mine does infact sound better. I know I have a different radio than his. Mine has the 5 little equalizer settings on the front of the stereo. My 6x9s seem to be back there only for bass while the tweeters and 6 and a halfs are there for mid and high's his are different his are all around.
My current 6x9s are blown so I need to replace them. Would it be possible to get the exact same stock 6x9s and put them in there cause I think im sticking with a stock system. I also got one more ? is there a radio out there that I could get to work with my radio controls on my steering wheel?

I'm sure the dealer would be able to get OEM speakers, but you may pay an arm and a leg. My factory radio also has the 6 or 7 band EQ and I've had people ask me if there is a system in the car. (that would be no) But, IMO, the bass sounds great and goes lower than most in frequency, although, just when the volume gets interesting, the speakers start breaking up and I have to take the 40 HZ and 100Hz levels down.:(
I have a hard time believing (sp) aftermarket speakers (with appropriate freq. response stats) wouldn't produce the same low notes. On the other hand I have not replaced my OEM speakers.
And yeah, they do make aftermarket stereos with steering wheel remote controls!

yeah the kick from the stock 'premium' systems is pretty good. I lost some of the midbass when I went to my components. But I get much better mid/high response. I have my stock 6x9s running off the factory amp, without the tweeters. System sounds mad good imo. :)
