Does anyone know anything about the Crossfire brand amps? Are they any good?
Also with a subwoofer with 300 RMS and a max of 1000 watts, what would be the recommended watts in an amp needed to push the sub?

I was told by Crutchfield that the Alpine MRP-M350 would go well with the 12" Alpine Type R sub,but a local shop that I called about buying it fro them said it wasn't enough for the Type R ansd recommended a 400w Crossfire amp. Here is the description of the Alpine M350 on the Crutchfield site: 200W x 1 Car Amplifier,350 watts RMS at 2 ohms........it would seem like Crutchfield would know for sure that the amp is enough for the sub,but the local shop has beem around a long while so they should know as well too so I am confused to who to listen to.I want a good brand name like Alpine and haven't really heard of the Crossfire brand amps so anyone who has heard of them or used them before any info on them would hep out. Thanks!

the dealer will say what ever to get you to change your mind, the M350 will match with the type r, i personally recommend the M500, but thats just me, the 350 and sub are made to be put together

Crossfire amps are some of the best out there.
Crossfire is very stable and clear sounding amp.
Give it an inch of air and it will never trip.

The VR1000d I think is the one you would be looking for.

250w rms 1000w max.

250w rms 1000w max. Thanks, you never hear anything about the Crossfire brand so I was skeptical about the shop suggesting it saying the Alpine M350 amp wasn't enough for the sub because Crutchfield suggested the Alpine M350 and they seem to know their stuff pretty well.

the thing i don't like about crossfire is they rate everyting at 1 ohm, rockford is doing this with their new power series amps, you buy an 800w 4 channel amp and you only get 75w per channel at 4 ohms, that why i bought the 551X, it gets the same power and costs about $400 less, but the mono amps are good, as are crossfire

Anyone heard of this site? www.Woofersetc.com
Just glancing at a few things......looks like this site is pretty cheap on stuff.12"Type R's are going for $129.99 each.

but that also helps keep the price down on the crossfires....if you've got the equipment to get it down to 1 ohm it's well worth it. im running a 1000D (crossfire) to emily's 18" and it beats the hell outta that thing. at 4 ohm the amp only gives like 250 watts, but im running it at 1 ohm and it's pushing around 1200 rms. and i was skeptical about buying crossfire too, but my buddy told me i wouldn't regret it.....and i haven't. :)

i agree with the 1 ohm mono amps, just not the stereo or multi channel amps

Crossfire Rules! As for the VR1000D it makes 250 x 1 RMS at 4 ohms and 1000 x 1 RMS at 1 ohm, not 250 rms and 1000 max. Crutchfeild suggests what the manufacturers suggest such as 350 RMS, where a local shop who acually hooks this stuff up will tell you what they have experienced and what works. Such as Alpine type Rs are power hungry turds. Peace, Lee

i've seen the birth sheets for the new rockford stuff
the T1001 is rated at 500w @4, 750W @2, and 1000W @1, but the actual rms output is close to 1500W rms @ 1 ohm

the T1500.2 i saw put out 2700W rms @ 2 bridged mono, i haven't seen the T3001 but i'm sure it puts out some crazy numbers

i'd like to have one of those new fosgate amps.....but they're HUGE. i understand that a 1000+ watt amp is going to take up some space, but even thier T500 is huge.

and most amps put out more than their generally rated.....you should know that :P

here are two of the 1500.2's, the subs are 10'' i believe, also this stuff belongs to a guy in the rockford forums so they are his and i give him credit and all that legal stuff

the past 3-4 years there stuff has been a little underated by like 100w, but now its like 400-500, the 1500.2 in the picture is like 2700w at 1 ohm,
