All I can say is dammit! I want that f'n exhaust so bad, and hearing finally just teases me more until I get the cash! Have you noticed a big hp gain at all?

Thats awesome that ou got the gains, one more question, how does it sound when you get into the 4000+ rpms? does it rasp at all or whats the tone like? I hear a lot of v-6 cars with exhaust and they sound like crap when they are WOT so I am just curious.
Kdawg207
06-28-2004, 01:47 PM
nice solid rumble...no whining here......stays nice and calm unless i tell it to scream...lol
i chose it over slp because of slp's raspy sound and tendancy to drone during normal driving
i am pleased as hell

That's Borla for ya, the best on the market!!!! Not cheap but well worth it!!! Other exhaust I like are B&B tri-Flow, Basani, and Hooker. Everyone has Flowmaster. Got Borla??? Get some hooker exhaust manifolds, it will make it sound even better!!
What kind of pipe set up do you have?

from what ive found, the borla at higher rpms sounds very similiar to stock exhaust with a CAI. I noticed a bit of a deeper tone, but not much. But god that sounds nice. Oh, if anyone is interested, ive found that most likely, the reason a SLP cat-back sounds raspy is because it doesnt have a resonator. Get an 18" res and you will probably notice much of the raspyness is gone. Just a heads up.

Well what does it sound like with out the Cai on the Borla.

i looked at borla today and they told me they did not carry a muffler for an 03 yet. do you remember where you got yours and what the part number was or the price?
Pte Socks

uhh well they may not make an exclusive borla muffler for the '03, but I just got a universal Borla Pro XS muffler.

Yeah, look around. I got mine for free :D
Kdawg, install a cutout on your borla. You won't believe the power and sound you get out of it.
Kdawg207

already half way there....lol
did you keep your resinator

Yes. It's loud enough for me and has a lot of pop when I rev it in park. It's enough to shake the hell out of the car, but that may be from other things :D
I also run the cutout wide open. It is illegal, but it's also a grand am. Nobody would ever suspect.

how did you get it for free?

No. That will only change the sound of your exhaust. There is very little performance to be gained with just the muffler. You want a Borla Catback Exhaust System. And I got mine for free b/c I bought the car with modifications already done to it.
Kdawg - I bought my cutout off a member on gagt.com. it's just a cast iron cutout with a manual switch that is mounted inside my car. The switch is ghetto and worthless, so I just left it all the way open.

sounds better than my borla muffler, but then again you have a v6!
