I called Craig today and he gave me a price for both bars. He said it would be $207 CAN, which would work out to $103/bar after the discount and tax. When I worked it out it would have been around $83/bar after the discount. Did he write me down for the 99+ price or am I wrong with the prices? I'll call hime tomorrow and figure it out, but I thought you or someone might know.

Well here's what I got...

He told me it would be $207 for 2 bars. Which works out to be $103.75/bar after tax and discount. This price would work out to be $120 before discount and tax.

I thought they should be 170 for 2 bars or $85/bar after tax and discount. This would make the price $99 beforediscount and tax. This is for the 92-98 range.

All prices that I just put up is in Canadian $$$

Yeah, that works out to about $103 CAN, like I was told...But I have a 96...Which should be cheaper by around $15/bar so it would cost $85/bar... But I'll find that out tomorrow.

haha, its the life of a scale modeler. Too many deadlines with too many projects, its insane. We just finished an appt buildling for some company in kentucky, then the day after we finished a fire simulator that took about a two weeks to put together and get all set up and corrected. Had 8 people working on it to just get it working 100%. The wiring was insane.
Then just last week we had a HUGE map of some military base to get done and out. Followed by a 100% accurate model of a fitness center called Life Time Fitness, which was insane because they wanted all the freaking equipment, so i had to laser cut everything and then glue them all together. it was nuts!
Anyways, to the point. I called RSM Racing and paid for my struts, so I am done!

I don't see why they wouldn't... even if no one else called in... we still have plenty to meet the requirement of the 10 bars... there are 14 people registered... and from what I remember most people did both bars. Unless their rule is all or nothing... which I can pciture that... they seemed to be good to deal with and very easy going. But I do agree the way he stated it does make it sound like they would cancel the whole order.

I think if people say they will be involved in a group buy and then back out after the list has been sent should be black listed and not be able to participate in any other group buys. Its very frustrating for those of us who have signed up and phoned in not to get our bars because a few changed their mind, I am sure that RSM is not happy to have people backing out also.

I will find out tommorow when the cut off date is. RSM WON"T all of a sudden charge you guys full price. So don't worry about that. In the future, I just may limit group buys to only 10 people. That way if 1 person cancels, they will ruin it for the other 9. This will prevent the "serious" people having to play the waiting game/putting up with other people's nonsense. Please make the cut off date soon. :D We are coming up on a month since the list was finalized and that is plenty of time to call in. I agree with your statement about having only a certain amount of people to be included in the buy. Unfortunately, group buys always have a flaw, and that is that people allow their excitement to go too far and don't think realistically. I mean if you have any doubts about buying something...don't. Save your money because you will porobably need it for something else.

This group buy has been very successful, and all of them should be like this one. At least 95% will follow through. :P Good job!

perhaps who ever the mod is of this section could keep a sticky with a rating for everyone who has contributed to a group buy, basically a running count of how many times they've done their part, and how many times they have backed out, then it would just be up to the discretion of the person holding the group buy to include them or not.

Agreed.

I used a credit card, and my understanding is that it's not charged until it's shipped. Just checked my credit card acct, and it has not been charged. (I would have lost my mind up in here, up in here ... if my CC was charged before shipping.) If anything, a business should only place a reserve hold (if that's what it's called) on the credit amount needed for the purchase, e.g. when you use a CC to place the deposit on some type of rental.

Also, I HIGHLY DISCOURAGE anyone from ever using a debit card online. I used to use my debit online, the number got stolen from somewhere, and I was out REAL MONEY for almost a month while they verified that it was fraud. It's one thing to have a charge show up on your CC, it's another when REAL MONEY disappears from your bank account. Just FYI.

This is the first group buy I have ever participated in, bar none. *smirk*

Not too sure really. I mean it's an aluminum bar in any case...really, how different can they be? It's doing the same thing as any other STB. Those are the Ractive ones that you can find everywhere.

I think the Ractive ones only use 2 of the bolts for attaching the plates to compared to RSM which uses 3. Not 100% sure though. I also don't think Ractive makes a rear STB.

Yeah I think that would be a good idea to post some kind of rules to go by so that there aren't any excuses as to why someone didn't make the list or why they were suddenly bumped off for holding up the buy or for any other reason for that matter. There should almost be rules set for ALL group buys.

Yeah that would definitely be a bonus to live just down the street. :)

Unfortunately he couldn't put a specific date for completion either, since he doesn't want to break any promises, but he's hoping they will be completed by next week. Just thought I'de let everyone know.

Yeah I agree. RSM will wait till everything is done until they ship them out. It's funny how that works. I'm pretty sure the 99+ are all ready to go, but the 92-98 are not...but who knows. Hopefully they will be done soon.

Yeah, we all understand. We are just getting more eager every day. :) We know we are almost to the end of it, but it's still so far away. Craig and the people at RSM are trying to do the best they can to accommidate us and we know that. It's just most of us, including myself are very impatient. :D

Well as college and all my annual business meetings (non college related of course) down in Orlando and Utah, and this year....Nevada....bla, I feel I need a more reliable car.
Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking on Grand Am's. Let's just say this car has been my play toy.
Just an example. Yesterday I was flying down the highway at over what the speedometer could register. So I can guarantee after a while the end is going to go poof! I already have a lower intake gasket that needs to be replaced. But I am definently (if I get some free cash) will be doing an engine swap with a buddy of mine. We'll be putting in the 3800 with a jackson racing supercharger.

And seeing as that conversion can't be done overnight by any means, I'll definently be needing another car to get me from point a to point b.

Hey who knows, maybe when it's all done I'll sell it and donate the money to a charity or something. Who knows, only time will tell if I ever finish her.

Yeah man I can understand. I wanted something a little sporty since I'm done college and am now working full time. I needed something relatively reliable and I haven't had any problems with her yet. A 3800 SC would be killer... Anything in mind for the alternate vehicle?

Just purchased (pre-paid) for the Chevy Cobalt. It's a new car coming out this year. In late fall. Although I can't afford the supercharger, I am going for the step down from it, and then putting in an aftermarket one when they become available.

Who wants to waste all the money on extra gadgets that I can put in myself for a heck of alot cheaper than what they want.

That's cool. A new car will be your best bet for reliability. True though about aftermarket stuff. It seems to be way cheaper than getting it from the dealers. You'de think they would catch on and lower their prices. Dealers in general would end up getting more business.

yeah, I don't think they're done either...oh well, I'm not really in any rish anymore so whatever. It would be nice to get them soon though. Well you'll have to deal with getting them after the rest of your presents...They knew it was your bday and just wanted to make you wait...lol :P

The reason I am so worried is that I don't track my finances well at all. And I hate the thought that I will have 200+ dollars come out of my account someday without warning.

JMILLS, I could not agree with one more. It's driving me crazy not knowing when they are going to take the money out of my checking account. I don't want to deal with an overdraw, and I think it would be nice to get an email from RSM atleast two days before they withdraw it so that I can be prepaired and make sure there is enough money in my checking account since all my money is direct deposited into my savings.

I agree with both of you. I just recently moved into a new condo and have had quite a few expenses with furniture, food, and other little things that seem to add up to a lot :P. I also have to replace the water pump, and brake pads on the GA which doesn't help at all, plus insurance (which is not my friend) comes out the same day as my rent. Things have become way more tight in the last few weeks, so hopefully this will happen very soon. :) I just don't want to be scraping for money...

Group Buys are supposed to wait for the buyers... not for the company who supposidly had these in stock when I called to place my order. I am not really blaming the company, as much as saying I don't want to wait for a company that isn't giving any sort of timeline...

I am from toronto which is about 20 min from where RSM is located. I'll try to lighten the situation up a little bit for everyone. Currently RSM is in the process of moving to a new building, so I've heard. This is one of the reasons that they are running a little behind. I know it's no excuse but it's just caused a little slowness on their end. Because of this move, it's taking them longer to make the bars/mounting plates for us. Also like Babalouie said a while ago, we aren't the only people that they are trying to provive parts for. I'm sure there are plenty more waiting in line just like we are. I talked to Craig last wed or thurs and asked him how the progress was. He told me that the plates haven't been made yet for 92-98's and he wasn't sure as to when they would be ready. He didn't want to promise anything then let us down, so he said to call back sometime this week. I decided to wait till tomorrow (Friday) since it was a short week, and I'll get the latest details on the situation.

I am getting more impatient like you guys, but there's no need in getting pissed off, because they will come through. They aren't some budget company out to take your money. I say give them one more week, and then that should be long enough on their end.

i dont think people are "pissed off" i think people are just etting a little jumpy. We spent aot of money on these bars and just want to see somthing in return. People just want their bars thats all, end of story.
