Rack and Pinion

Hi, I was told today that my Rack and Pinion is going put.
Could someone please advise me on this, because I do not
know what to look for and is the dealer trying to rip me
off? Thanks

OOO thats no good man. My dad had his go out in his 98 Monte Carlo about 2 months ago. When you turn the steering wheel at low speeds it made kind of a "moaning" noise in the front end. It ended up costing him $900. Hopefully thats not it for you tho :(

I was told by my local dealer that it would cost
me $1900.00 to repair. they said they had to re-
place the rack and pinion and the power steering
pump and something else. I am getting a second
opinion though.
