if i go with a glass mount antenna like i see on lots of cars can i use this for my radio or are these just for cell phones? also what brand of antennas is good? thanks.

I think with some modification you could make it fit, but it's probably not plug and play

get a back window out of a alero. The antenna in built into it. I believe they are the same size as the grand am.

hmm i might end up doing that. is there a wire that runs from the rear window antenna to the cd player then? or how does it work exactly?

I got something for ya...Get the Autoloc Hidden Antenna. It mounts inside your car,I do believe on your rearview mirror and its an FM antenna. Its 70 bucks but its great for shaved antennas.Friend is gonna get one here soon and I plan on shaving my antenna and going to get the AutoLoc one as well.

That was gonna be my suggestion to :) ... or you can do what I did and install a power antenna :)

Power antenna would be the easiest cheapest way to go. That's what I plan to do... that, and get rid of the XM antenna on the top of the car.

if hes wanting to shave his antenna he won't be able to use a power antenna.Id stick with trying to find one of those FM antennas that you can place somewhere inside the car to were it blends in with the interior, most cars that do have their antennas shaved use these kind of "hidden" antenna's,that is if they still want to listen to the radio.
