Friend showed me a trick to do with my headlights, said hes going to be doing this to his 93 Accord headlights(hes got the one piece JDM's) He said to take out the metal clips(4 of them) heat the thin up in the oven at about 350 for like 5-8 minutes and then take a flat head screw driver and wedge the lens off(this with the bulbs out of course, lol) and tape off the back part of the housing and use black sprypaint and paint the bottom part of the housing and the top part(the plain chromish areas) and it will give it the blackout effect but still have the original light as b4(no loss of brightness since the lens isn't being touched by paint or anythnig)
I need to know what to tape the back off with without messing up the reflective chrome,I don't know if it will come off or not.

Masking tape is made to tape off areas when painting. All the auto stores should have it.

If you paint over the chrome surface you WILL lose light output. Most of the light emitted from headlights is emitted sideways and reflects off the chrome surface towards the front.

the part im painting isn't a place the light reflects off of,the light reflects off the back part of the housing, not the bottom or the top, thats why the back has a pattern in it and the bottom and top has not pattern.

Actually regular masking tape can be to harsh when masking things like that. They make tape very simular to masking tape called painters tape. When pulled off it comes off easier without damaging fragile areas or fresh paint. Usually it's not that dull beige color but instead usually blue, or green, etc. I mean masking tape will work, but if he wants to play if safe and he's a bit nervous, painters tape is a safer bet.

I agree, but I like the look he's going for. Kind of like the some of the newer mustangs.
