I'm having a hell of a time with my '97 GT. The theft system keeps getting triggered and shuts off the fuel pump, thus keeping the car from starting. I can reset it by leaving the key in the on position for 10 minutes, but this is getting ridiculous. Anyone ever tried to bypass this? Someone had tried to put an aftermarket remote starter in before, but it never worked, and we think it may have done something to it.

Take the bypass module out and return the wiring back to stock .

Actually, the remote starter was removed during servicving awhile back.

Anyhow, I pulled the column covers off to take a look see, and theres a 3 wire connector (black with gray stripe) that runs right behind the key insert, and there was a spot were the coating was worn off, (possibly b/c of the tilt)and bare wires were exposed. I wrapped it up with electrical tape, and hopefully that will fix it. I also noticed that it looked as if two of the three wires had been spliced back together with heavy duty wire connectors, possibly from the remote starter being removed?

Ah well, I'll keep my fingers crossed that it was that simple. But it's odd, because the theft system seemed to go off randomly. I'd go a week with nothing happening, then twice in the same day it would trigger. Weird.:???:
