My friend said to me that adding 17" rims over my stock 15" rims will make me have ot change my timing, will I? Any info is helpful!

NO you do NOT have to change your timing. actually unless you have the proper tools to modifiy the computers timing tables you can't do squat to the timing.

What he was possibly referring to was throwing off your spedometer. He just has the terminology mixed up. If you do not plus-size your tires properly when changing rim size, you can and will through off your speedometer accuracy, as well as affect the performance of your car.

To prevent this be sure that the outside diameter of your new tires matches that of your old tires. Or, simply post your current tire size here and we can give you the proper size for a 17" rim.

Here goes:

A P225/45R17 will be a perfect fit, with regards to diameter, but may be too wide... If your rim's backspacing/offset isn't perfect, you could have rubbing issues. I know people that have run that size, however, with no problems.

A 205/50R17 also gives a perfect fit, although it is a little narrower.

Hope this helps! :)
