Thought I would start this thread back up. my last post said this I think it has something to do with the transmission and traction control combined with the engine. I notice when there is snow and ice and the traction control light comes on I wont get 200 miles in a tank of gas.

I dunno but I am not really pleased with the gas mileage. It doesn't seem like that would cause bas gas mileage unless the tires are continuously spinning where the transaxle would have to have both tires going, but I believe that this ETS system uses the ABS system to stop tires spinning. Anywho, I have it scheduled to go in on the 7th to have the dealer check it out. Also the winshield washer fluid must be froze in the hoses that lead the the wiper arm cuz I am not getting any washer fluid out but the tank is full. Also have a rattle coming from the driver side dash up by the A pillar. gotta love warranty work. Anyone else have these problems?

My tires do spin and they spin quite often. ABS doesnt stop spinning. ABS is a braking system that pulses the brakes at a high rate automatically to prevent the brakes from locking. Traction control is suppose to reduce wheel spinning but the only systems that can truely do that are all wheel drive and 4 wheel drive systems. The traction control on my GA is terrible

Yeah I was gonna say mine wasn't that good either. Actually I got the abs thing mixed up. My moms Moutaineer has all wheel drive and that system uses the ABS system to slow the tires that are spinning and sends power to the wheels that are at slower speeds.

on my dad's 99' Grand Prix GTP, it has the traction control, now what it will first do is when it senses wheel spin, it will cut the throttle back, then if it keeps spinning, it will actualy use the ABS brake system to slow down which ever wheel is spinning

of course when you turn TCS off, it only turns off the braking part, and even with it off, the computer will still cut back on the throttle. but that can all be fixd with the $350 computer chip upgrade :D

don't know if that same system is used on the newer Grand Am's though
