Would headers for a cavy / sunfire ecotec bolt up on our grand ams? There's a set on eBay right now if anyone wants to try...

I think that any header for an ecotec would bolt up to the block just fine. The only problem you'd run into would be with the connection from the header to your exhaust piping. Any muffler shop should be able to take care of it no problem.
The only real difficulty I've heard of is with the 4-2-1 type of header (rksport,weapon-r) having an O2 bung that needs to be moved for grand am applications.

I know this is a month old thread, but I gotta ask... why does the bung need to be moved? Why couldn't you just extend / shorten the wire of the o2 sensor? Not that I'm planning on buying these anytime soon, but for future reference... I gotta get my t/a moving again before I do anything major to the ga.

I read in another thread, maybe on the j-body.org, that the O2 sensor will interfere with a part of the car. The bung has to be turned 90 degrees so that there is room to screw in the sensor.

If I had time I'd order a 4-2-1 header and give it a try.

If the O2 bung isn't the same exact distance from the head as the manufacturer designs it to be, then the sensor sends out erroneous temperature readings that the ECU will react to. In other words, if the sensor is too far, then it's sending colder readings and the ecu will lean out the air/fuel mixture. Too close, then too hot and the ecu will richen the mixture.

But as EcotechFiveSpeed says, it just might be an interferance thing.

i have had the pacesetter header for the better part of the year... they used my car to test fit it to the ga... so i was the first... it is the same as the cavy but the bung needs to be moved to the bottom of the collector or the sensor will hit the tranny. the harness will reach with out modification.. the way they approach the issues of it bolting to the rest of the exhaust is by cutting it just before the cat, then welding on a new down pipe so you probably need a shop to install it for you...

the header is awesome! i would suggest one if you can do it

Looks like they made one, with the bung just where you said it would be....

20,000 miles still loving it only gripe is that every 6 months or so i have to get under there and tighten the 2 bolts that connect the header to the down pipe... other than that its awesome

If you put a little locktight on there, itll take care of that for you:)

Does anyone know the part number for the Pacesetter header for an Ecotec Grand Am, I found multiple listings on Pacesetter's site and got a bit confused as to which one unless I'm missing something.

Also, did the header make your car a lot louder, more cabin noise, lose any bottom end? Thx for your help.:D

yeah i got more noise in the cabin but only when i rev it up at idle it sounds about stock... althought its kinda hard for me to anwer that because my CAI helps make noise

i dident notice any losses at the bottom end, it seemed to improve it through whole powerband, but more noticeable in the top end...

Cool, I just got my Pacesetter today and I'm gonna install it tommorow with a high flow cat and also a CAI from the blower. This should complement the SC quite nicely.:)
