I have been contemplating whether to paint or not, and at one time I considered the dash kits that they sell, that is until I read alot of negative reviews about the cheapness and fitment.

I was on ebay tonight and saw another of those dash kits, starting bid at 17.99 with only 2 hours left. What intrigued me was that this seller actuallly had some real pictures of the kit on a GA, and maybe pictures are deceiving, but it doesn't look half bad....

check it out and tell me what you think:

I don't care too much for the crap around the three middle vents, or the crap that is around the shifter, but all in all it doesn't look too bad....

Tell me what you all think. Paint or get this kit?

Don't look bad to me. I been considering paint on some of the vents shifter door handles. Just haven't took the time to do it.

It looks good I say go for it.

if painted good enough it should be better.Vinyl would just be a quicker answer to getting the look.

See the whole point is because I am not sure about painting. I nkow that within 2 years or so I am getting another car, and probably trading it in at a dealer. I dont wan't painted pieces, dealers do not appreciate that when giving you a value on your car.

Trust me, I would LOVE to paint. I painted my old Sunfire GT, and I looked awesome. I just don't want to do it to this car.

So you think I should get it for the price?

^ so then why even do mods?

exactly....If your worried about trading it in then your not gonna be needed to do mods, point of doing mods is because you know your going to have the car for a while. And if your worried about the dealership not liking what you did to it,sell it yourself,a lot of people out there that are starting to buy up modded cars that are being sold...My friend sold his tricked out Accord(very nice I must say) for 20,000,pretty damn good for a 94-97 Acoord.

Yeah, true.

I will probably just paint. Besides, those pictures I know are deceiving. Those overlays end up looking like crap.

Hey, it was just a thought.... :)

Also, keep in mind I have tan interior - doesn't leave that may unique options in regards to painting.

I was thinking either doing some of the trim in chrome paint (does anyone know if the chrome paint comes out good? ) or a "brushed aluminum" type of color. One other option was a really glossy black on the trim pieces, and getting some really nice black floor mats to accentuate the trim.

Whatcha think?

I think that the glossy black would look good. I'm not too much in favor of the paint on chrome though, I have a feeling that it would turn out tacky looking.

i agree with the glossy black. Im painting my interior red. I want to get emrboided charcoal floor mats (match interior) with Grand Am GT embroidered in the center and a red vinyl trim. too bad its like $95 on that website that's advertised on the gaoc forums here. If your getting mats, get embroided. it prolly looks sweet

Dude, if you paint, I'd go brushed aluminum all the way! I like the look of tan and aluminum. Reminds me of high class cars like BMW's, Porche's and the like. That's just me though. Also, the only experience w/ "chrome" paint I have is not good. I used it awhile back when I had an '80 Cutlass with a rusted bumper, as most of those ended up with. It never comes out truly chrome. It's kind of a step above aluminum, but not quite a mirror finish. If it's supposed to be chrome than that does'nt work well enough. On the same note, since chrome is an electrical process, I doubt a paint will ever be able to duplicate that finish.

O.K. I'm done. :D

Thanks. I am definitely going for the glossy black accents. if you have ever seen a tan interior on a GA, it is three colors. You have the tan on most of the interior, then this ugly brown on the accents, and charcoal on a few parts. I am going to get rid of all the ugly brown. Also change out the floor mats from tan to black. Very subtle.
