I could see a Small block 305 or 383 fitting with some modds. Dont know about a big block. I had the idea to put a 305 in my car when i get back from wyoming but the price to do it you might as well get a diffrent car.

With money, experiance, resources, knowledge, anything is possible. This topis has been discussed on here many times. If you dont have a clue what your doing, expect to pay a lot. If you know what your doing, then it will be cheap. But from this post, I know you dont know what you are doing, cause if you did, you would know it would fit. I dont think we will ever hear of this guy doing a RWD V8 swap in a GA.

Well I had a pretty good idea, of what I was talking about, but see I asked you guys so you could back me up in my claims that it can fit, a friend of mine just thought I was full of crap. So thanks for the replys. I proved him wrong, and well hes mad.

hahaha, yea, you can fit a V8 into a ga, but customization is key.

454 small block or a 6.0 ls6 would be my choice....

i'd stear away from both those engines because of price. the 454 small block is a total custom engine that is not anywhere close to cheap. and the LS6......HAHAHA, you dont find vette engines cheap period. the 383 is a hoss motor on the torque side of things, you would have some serious traction issues to contend with if you happened to go that route. the 305 is just a crap motor, if it's all you got it would do the job, but if you had to buy something a 350 is the way to go.

well personally, I'd go with a 390, same motor that was in alot of the AMC AMX's, real powerful motor, and since it's all custom, motor mounts mean nothing, so you could use a 290, or even a 440, from a Rambler American, or Rambler Rebel, if you wanted

Take a 454 stroke it to 460 drop in a twin turbo RWD it with a 6speed manual.

I have a '83 Z28 chassis if you want to try it. L69 305cid, T5 tranny, and a 2.73:1 posi (used to be a 3.73 but recently swapped out).

Umm...the LS6 is just the LS1 with a heads/cam package, same motor basically. You can get the heads/cam easilly from an aftermarket company.

Well, no you couldn't, since a 440 was never in those cars. Biggest AMC engine was a 403.

If ya wanna put a V8 in it go Chev small block. Probably your best bet. Lots available and lots of parts ond lots of guys who know them to work on them.

The RWD conversion is probably a bigger deal than just the engine swap.

Like others have said, with time and money virtually anything is possible.

Or, I have even a better idea. Go out and buy say a older 4 cylinder mustang and drop a bigger motor in it. This will be the easiest route and you will do a v8 swap ;)

I have always wanted one of the smaller cubic inch small blocks that chevy had in the late 60s like a 283 or327 in a light weight car. Those engines would rev for days and made great upper RPM horsepower which would be great for a light car on the track.

It is posible, and a technician at my buddies work, dropped an ls1 into a 99+ GA and made it RWD, but he got sponsorships and shit to do it, plus workin for bosh helped out in the design/machining area.
