I would like to put some led's in my interior door handles. But when I wire them up I want them to come on with my guage lights and everything else at night. Can I wire them to my power window switches since they light up at night or no. If not where would be the next best place to wire them to, I was thinking about my guages. I have the led's all ready to go in, i'm just not too sure how to wire them in or where to wire them to. Thanks for any info on this.

I would say straight into the door switch wiring, that would probally be easiest... BTW, I'm about to do the same thing next week, what gauge wiring should I be looking for, and which wire is which?

I wired mine into the door lock switch light. The lamp wire was gray on mine. As far as the gauge wire, it does have to be very big because led's don't draw very much voltage. 16 gauge should be ok.

lol, 16ga, you can use cat5 or phone wiring, and not being a smart ass, but V has nothing to do w/ wire size, its about current draw. i use cat5 because i have access to that, you can also use phone wire, basicly the same thing, i like cat5 because you can seperate the colors and they come pre-twisted... and have 20X's less resistance than 16ga anything except solid copper.. use t-taps to wire in your led's, gray is +, and black in the -, u need the red colored t-taps as the gray and black wires are 18ga... hope that helps!

using cat 5 is a great idea for LED's! I'll be using it! Thanks

I ran a wire through the rubber grommet to my hazard illumination so that the dimmer knob next to the fog switch will also dim all of my LED lights, it's pretty awesome.

Agree about the network cable, and some cat 5 cable is solid copper.

I want to do this mod but I have no knowledge of led wiring what so ever! I want to splice into the light source in the door so it will turn off and on with the lights correct? How should the wiring be and also I want the ones in the back to light up also. Can I just run a split from the front to the back?
