I'm getting ready to change the oil in my Ecotech for the first time. Where exactly is the oil filter located. I read the in the manual that you are not supposed to tighten the filter cap any more than 18 ft-Ib.
Thanks

As you're standing in front of the car, looking down at the engine, it's the big black plastic cap with the nut on the top. It's to the right of the intake as you are looking at it.

Thanks. I was wondering what that was when I was looking for the filter last night. I wouldn't have thought that was it. You would think the owners manual would have a diagram or something to show you. I guess most people take their cars to a quick oil change place these days. I guess I'm a little old fashion.
Thanks,
Jason

Do you need a special wrench to get it off?
Thanks

I didnt. I have a set of sockets and actually had a socket that fit the cover.

I may be a little late, but I believe it is an inch and a quarter (1 1/4) socket. You also need an extention about 6 inches or longer and a ratchet.
Also, you will trap the socket on if you loosen too much with the socket. Just get it loose enough to turn by hand and then remove the socket and do the rest by hand.
