I saw some angel eye foglights on this site http://www.pfyc.com/store/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PFYC&Product_Code=PN1010&Product_Count=29&Category_Code=GAEXT anyone have these? Look pretty cool, I wonder if they will fit a 1997 grand am with a little modification.

I have them on my 1996 Grand Am GT. They are more of a driving light than a fog light, but none the less do almost the same thing. They will bolt right on to your existing foglight bracket with minimal modification. All you will have to do is bend out the tabs on the bracket where you bolt the light to. Other than bending the tabs and rewiring the lights and led ring, there is not other modification you have to do. They make seeing on the roads 10X better and I suggest them over any other. :D

You can usually buy them at Pep Boys or at almost any automotive place for around $59 US.

In those Angel Eyes, is there an accual bulb in there? Or is the only thing putting out light the "ring" or "eye". Also wondering, I've seen that tut useing an LED and one of those window blind rods and bending it? Would I get the same effect doing that?

I think this would be a great, cheap mod for my 98 GT.

The driving lights use an H3 bulb that you can buy practically anywhere (they come with a light already, but I upgraded to super brights). This is seperate from the led ring, that is lit on its own. The "led" ring has 2 leds on the top (actually in the pic you posted the the light is upside down so they are straight down on the bottom...it's brighter in one area, so that's where the leds are.) You can do the custom job buy using a window blind rod, but unless you do it perfectly, I doubt it will come out as nice as these.

This is a relatively cheap mod, unless you go through more than 1 set. :P

Okay, sweet. And I can control the "eyes" with a switch? I'd like to drive around with my headlights off and just the "eyes" on, giving a kind of spooky look.

Yeah you can wire it anyway you like...so you can control each seperately if you want.

You won't be able to do that since you can't turn off your headlights...

I wired mine to be on with the parking lights. Also, I mounted my lights with the stock brackets.

Don't you have to cut the stock bracket?

Not on a 92-98 GA. These years have a different bracket than the 99+

I did cut a piece of my stock bracket out, so I could open it up a little bit. The brackets for these fogs are a little wider then the stock ones for 99+. I am not sure about the earlier years tho.

-Remove the housing from the vehicle.

-Unscrew the 2 philips screws on the back, and remove the backing.

-Unscrew the 2 screws holding the bulb in. One of the screws is holding down the ground, remember which one it is. Shouldn't really matter though.

-Take the old bulb out, replace with new bulb.

-Slide the connector/s through the rubber boot.

-Reassemble light

Make sure that everything is tight and that there isn't any moisture in the housing.
You may have you clip off the connector that comes on the new bulb and attach a connector found at an auto store that will connect to the hella wiring harness. I had to do this. All I did was strip the exterior insulation and crimped on the new connector. It plugged right into the hella harness.

Yeah you can change the "bulbs" in them... they're LEDs... they shouldnt really ever burn out, or the break... if they're not working check the wiring first to make sure there's no loose wires or contact is being made. Uhm... Yeah i'm not sure EXACTLY how to change them, i'm sure you can, but it looks like a solid construction to me... and If anyone is looking at the custom/pre made ones, here's mine in comparison.

edit:  I was a bit late with the post, my bad. but yeah... what nice96gt said.

dont mind the dead bugs :)

I wouldn't have a problem with that :)

The ones in my avatar are so bad and stopped working (APC 7 series junk) I had a total of 3 pairs of those on my car, plus I got them installed at a shop for the second and third time. Same thing happened each month :(

RedGrandAm2003

well all you got to do is use superglue and glue them on your stock fogs... takes seconds. Mine fell off cuz i was using some... crap glue not supposed to be used for plastic, and took 1 year to fall off with the help of a pressure washer... just used real super glue to glue back on

but if you want me to.. i can certainly do it, no probs.

ManktheTank19

O I thought you placed those rings inside the fog lights :???:

RedGrandAm2003
03-20-2006, 02:55 PM
Nah, I dont know how to open them. you can do it if you know how to open the fogs. I tried opening the lens but it wouldnt come off, but it will definatly fit inside. They're probably glued together... so you can stick them in the oven or use a heat gun to heat the seal up if you want.

Your GA is newer than mine and I got daytime driving lights, what you do disable yours?

Nothing...92-98 have the same/similar wiring setups. You'de have to hack up your e-brake wire and deal with no ETS and a p-brake light. I think the ABS is disabled also. Not sure though. There isn't an easy way to disable DRLs on a 92-98...well not that anyone has posted yet anyways.

Pretty sure that other GM models the lights come on automatically with the light sensor in the dash vent.

ManktheTank19

Well I have a 95 and I need to turn all lights on. I don't have DRL's or lights on the dash telling me to turn my lights on. I guess I am lucky :)
