Question about a cat. converter

Just wondering ... for our GA's a cat. is cat. right... so basically just matching diameter is all that matters right? Since i think im gonna replace mine with a high flow.. and a new muffler... but im not too sure if im gonna go 2.25 yet... but i assume stock is 2" inlet and out on the cat and same for the muffler... because it looks like neither have been replaced on my car... and i got 220 000kms... they both look pretty rough but work fine.. at least as far as i know...

Also another thing... i might also change o2 sensors... since my mileage blows... and still lets out a funny smell for the exhaust... and all maintence jobs have been done... so im just gonna do the o2's i think...

Also im looking for a highflow cat... i assume best is to go witha magnaflow? or any others that anyone would recomend

here are 2 links to 2 auctions on ebay atm... now these both are different and on the first one it dont have that "thing" sticking out the side... i have a 94 GA and it states on the one with that "thing" works on 95 and earlier... does it matter

According to GM and many auto technitions, aftermarket converters can set a code for low converter efficiency and turn on the SES light.

It's because of the precious materials in the OEM converter that are not used in aftermarket converters. Aftermarket are concidered to be 3 way converters while OEM are 4 way. That is the number of harmful gasses that the converter is trying to clean up.

ok thanks... ya mine doesnt have that thing on my cat... so could i still by one that had it and just block it off or do i have to by one without?

Also going to 2.25 pipe how much does it increase the sound of the car on the outside... because im not looking for loud... just louder
