Hello to everyone.
I am the original owner of a 93 GT v6 automatic.
I have 48,000 miles on it. Always take very good care of it.
Today as I was approaching a stop light the car made a muffled grindy type of noise under my feet and shut off.
I was able to re-start it , but any attempt to shift into drive, or any gear cause it to shut off. I left the car in park with the engine running and got towed to a garage, the mechanic was not able to pull any codes...the check engine light never came on
and ironically enough the car now is running fine ??
He believes that the torque convertor is starting to fail...that while in transit(in tow) that the oil cooled and that the plates loosened or that the convertor came loose. He said that it would probably happen soon and maybe not for another 8 month's?
Can anyone please offer some help.. I plan on leaving this car to my sister since I am being activated and will be leaving soon.
Any advise will be greatly appreciated, Thank you.

Sounds like what mine did a year ago. I had the TCC selenoid (lockout switch) replaced and my car now runs just fine.

Hello. Just so everyone know's It happened to my mechanic while he had the car.
I also found out I have Mechanical Breakdown Insurance thru Geico. They are willing to fix after my deductible of 250.00

My only question is this: since it has happened about 6-8 times
now...would this not do any dameage to the torque convertor itself ?

So I wanna thank everyone that had an idea etc..
Schultzie seems like you have hit the bullseye , thanks.
