I think you'll be fine going with 2.5 inch exhaust, but I have no suggestions for a muffler because I can't, for the life of me, remember the best sounding/flowing mufflers for Quads...except maybe Borla. :)

I would go 2.5 and use a Magnaflow muffler.

I recommend 2.25" and Borla.

yeah im still debating on the muffler, i have 2.25 and a dynomax super turbo.. it used to sound good, but even when it did it was uber loud and the interior renasonce was terrible.. couldnt hear a thing.. Does anyone have a soundclip with a quad and a borla?

Hmm, you may want to stick a small glasspack resonator on after the cat. (where the stock resonator was) I don't have a resonator, my Borla's are pretty loud, tho not obnoxious. Interior noise isn't too bad at all.
I've been meaning to grab some sound clips... if the weather is nice tonight I may do that.

yeh i dont have a resonator either, ill think about that , if you can grab a sound clip that would be awsome, ill grab some before and afters of what it sounds like
Any follow ups here? Im really looking for some options for my quad but theres just so many possiblities, not like i can try every size of pipe and every combo of muffler/resonator/whatever else :P

yeah i hear ya.. my head is blown right now so getting exhust is put back for now lol, i had a dynomax super turbo on their with duel 3 inch tips, it sounded good and was loud,.. what kinda sound are you looking for?
I like it too be quite loud and sound deep. My current setup sounds ok, i have a long glass pack in place of my converter and a glass pack cut in half and everything taken out of it for a large tip. It sounds very good for the few bucks i spent on it. But ive heard better sounding. As long as it doesnt sound like little mini farts going off :)

If thats what you want, get other peoples opinions too cause that is the only quad car ive ever heard with something different then stock on it, i thought it sounded good though

I have heard that Dynomax sounds pretty good on Quads, but that Borla sounds the best. Of course, Dynomax is quite a bit cheaper than Borla. :)

yeah my dynomax ran me like 30 bucks for the muffler, and double that for the tip... wasnt expensive at all, it took quite a bit of beating too with me backing into curbs and the like lol... im going with a borla i think when i replace my exhust AGAIN lol.. try to be careful with this one

Can't wait to hear them! Aside from the sound clips I have from my friend Kevin (and his 442 and I-Series Calais), I have not heard a sound clip from a Quad in a long time. :)

Cant wait too hear! i might be getting rid of the grand am, i found a fiero that has 60 000 kms on it for 2500, its mint.. an 84, might take the quad out of the grand am and rebuild it for the fiero... i just have to come up with 700 more bucks for the car

i had a flowmaster 60 series muffler with a 3 inch stainless tip, and it sounded very nice. it wasnt too raspy like the hondas and it had quite a unique tone. expensive muffler tho...sheesh
