I have a 93 GA with 2.3L HO, I broke the motor while racing :banghead:. Is it true that the 2.4L engines are more reliable? What does it take to swap one from a 96 Cavalier Z24 into my GA? Can I still use the HO head (w/cam), manifolds? Will I need a custom chip? :)
This site mentions the diffrences between the engines, but says nothing about swaping. http://www.babcox.com/editorial/ar/ar49935.htm

um... why would you want a 2.4L swapped? ....
what's broken n the 2.3L HO? do you care to part it out?
I would love to take your intake manifold and throttle body off your hands :) as well as the exhaust manifold.. ;)
you can swap in a 2.4L engine, but you can't swap the cams or heads unless you wanna really get into craziness.. and think about standalone engien management w/ the hybrid that you would create...
the 2.4L is only rated at 150hp 155lbfttq
it's quieter and smoother than the 2.3L motors it replaces....
you can do as much as you want w/ the 2.4 as you can w/ a 2.3 ...
you'll most likely need a 2.4l computer and engine wiring harness... to get things working right...
I do want your intake manifold and throttle body.. email me if you want to part w/ them :)

I loved the 2.3L, it spind my 245/45/16's in 1st,2nd, and a little bit in 3rd. That love quickly became 100% hate when I learnd that I had to change the crank bearings and cylinder #1 rod. Each and every mechanic who took alook under the hood said "the sun of .....s who designed this ....ing engine". The 2.4 seamed like a better (from a reliability point of view) engine, but the swap is not worth the effort.
Now I set my mind on a Recon rebuild 2.3 HO with 3 years warranty, I'm gonna reuse botha manifolds and TB :) Thanks for your offer :grinsanta:

i was just wondering if anyone knows which intake, for a 2000 grand am se 2.4L twin cam engine, will increase my horsepower the most? and does a larger k&N filter make a difference?
